The mutliplayer in MNC is dead -- the only remaining community are the super l33t pros who are unforgiving to new players. Shame, I thought the game looked great and was an interesting concept but like with all indie multiplayer games I wait a few months to see if they end up being viable.

bansama: Monday Night Combat is the new daily deal on Steam. Any comments as to how playable it is as a single player game?
I asked this same question when it first came out and pretty much got the response that without the multiplayer community it isn't worth anything. =/ Spiral Knights is the only MMO I've really been able to get into and then you can only play for an hour a day unless you spend real cash to purchase more energy to play longer with (energy refils naturally over a twenty four hour period) and, even then, the amount of free energy granted each day in the game is not enough to start and complete an entire dungeon because there are about fifty floors to each dungeon and you only get enough energy for the first ten floors.

GameRager: Just buy energy then, and disregard the items you can buy or trade for them with items you obtained for free with other players. How much is energy then? You can purchase in smaller quantities - smallest is $2.50 for 700 energy.
if you get into shelling out cash for MMOs you have to put on your mindset that we had back in the days of old arcades where you're spending a lot of money on a game that you can't take with you and pull out again years later.
The only thing is, we spent money at the arcade because those graphics couldn't be surpassed by home consoles at the time - so it was a pretty big experience, where as Spiral Knights is a friggin' PS2 like game.

carnival73: $20 bucks gives you 7500 energy - you spend about 100 energy an hour so that's $20 for 75 hours of game time. You can purchase in smaller quantities - smallest is $2.50 for 700 energy.

GameRager: I didn't mean one should always buy energy, just sometimes...and only the bare minimum needed to play. To me it'd be akin to a subscription then, as long as I kept my time controlled it'd be cheap for me....like playing a cheaper MMO. carnival73: I've also got Champions installed - it's not as enjoyable because it's a big sloppy complicated mess of buttons and scrambling between mouse, game pad and keyboard but I've put quite a bit of time into the game and even though you can purchase online gold and items, so far it hasn't been necessary for me to even look at the shop in order to be able play and get around for long periods of time.
