Taleroth: Don't fall for it!

Foxhack: Uh, why not?
Because these F2P games are all about sucking people in then hitting them with microtrans.

I know what you're thinking. "I'll just play the free part. They won't sucker me."

But that's how it starts. That's how it always starts.

Too late, it's already installing. :P

Besides, you can't get me to buy stuff on TF2, let alone an action RPG like this.

Willpower is great but TF2 items and 'F2P' Cash shops, massive difference xD

That said, I've played F2P MMo's where I felt the money spent was worth every penny. It's all about having fun.

prakaa: Anyone wanna give me an opinion on Swords of the Stars Complete?
I say go for it. It's very MOO in many ways, especially streamlined planet management. The backstory for all the races and their gameplay differences are very deep. Tech strategy matters a lot. Game-changing random encounters.

They made some bewildering choices that drag out aspects of gameplay, such as making every battle last the same length of time. If the computer refuses to surrender or draw, the best you can do is run out the clock at 8x. You can select autoresolve in place of combat.

Flawed but still a superior 4x game. You can customize it to shorten combat, boost the early game, plus all the other stuff you'd expect.

Pheace: Gamersgate's Daily is Creeper World -60% €2.68. Apparently a rather successful variant on Tower Defense.

Supposedly this leaked on the store page, leading to believe that Steam will be hosting F2P games soon. Listed for now are Champions Online, Global Agenda, Forsaken World, Spiral Knights, Alliance of Valiant Arms.

Midweek Madness on Steam is Darkspore -40% 29,99€

Foxhack: Those free to play games are already available.

Out of those, the only one that really catches my eye is Spiral Knights.
ya installing it

GoJays2025: Magicka is 50% off ($5) at Impulse, if anyone's interested.

ne_zavarj: 60% with the SURVEY2010 coupon code . :)
Wouldn't that code just give you 10% off the already discounted price?

Three Rings is great at not forcing you to micropay. Haven't tried SK but I'm sure it's worth trying out.
Yep, looks like the F2P MMO's cashshop's will now be using Steam's Cashshop support, same as TF2 items.

Seems like the logical step for F2P MMo's in that sense.

Also there'll be a special day for every one of the MMO's introduced today in the coming 5 days, allowing you to get exclusive content if you try the game out on that day.

Since I've caught some people wanting to check out Ninja Blade, Strategy First is cutting 80% off:

XIII Centure Gold Edition
Perimeter 2 New Earth
Dawn of Magic 2
Ninja Blade

Which apparentely makes each $4.99 after using the STRAT499 coupon.

I see. That's 55% off then.
liquidsnake just told me that some of these free games on Steam have region locks. Apparently he can only access Champions Online, Global Agenda and Spiral Knights - and I can see all games except for Alliance of Valiant Arms (in the Steam browser, which forces IP region locking.) Weird.

Spiral Knights is fun, but I've been playing alone. The game hasn't been out for less than two hours and already I'm stumbling upon racist idiots...

wvpr: TD fans should check this out. Instead of a marching horde, you have to drive back self-filling pools. Height becomes vital to victory.
Yeah, I've just given the demo a go and I really like it. Definitely seems worth £2.40.

It's been out for a couple months outside of Steam.

I meant the time it's been on Steam - I'm still in the newbie area, and it's filled with Steam users. :)
