Everything has fanboys. Even Daikatana does ( I used to be when it came out). It may be much smaller but it's still there.

Aningan: Well it's a Steamworks title so there'd be no reason to buy from them and not Steam if they went at the same price. At least I think that's the reason.
Unless Gearbox comes up with some TF2 hats which would only be available to people who buy the game on Steam.

Of course it's renting, you are renting for the price of your time to watch some ads. The question is how much of that time to they want? If it's one quick ad for access to five games then it's worth it. If it's something like Gizmondo which required you to watch x amount of minutes per week and you can't play anything till you have watched that amount then forget it.

It's not buying at all. AFAIK the only thing you're paying is your 'time' while you wait for the adverts to finish. I don't think you have to give anyone money.
