I took advantage of the sale to finally buy all the new Civ DLCs though. Not sure if they were all worth $10 even on sale, but oh well... I love Civ.

The Civ DLC's are very much worth it, I already bought them all. The map packs are just what it says on the tin. You can get free maps from mods.

I love Civ too, that's why I'll be playing 4 till the price of 5 comes down.

Yeah, I only bought the new Civ packs, not any of the maps. Glad to hear they are worth it... I did like how different the Civs were in Civ5, like a fighting game or something.

Do the map packs have any extra scenarios or units etc?

Any announcement yet of an expansion pack? This is becoming the most boring release of a Civ game ever.

Same. I've been playing since the first and I'm saddened at how the franchise has gone the way of Civ Rev's console approach and DLC money grab. Oh well.

I really wish Civ 5 was a game I'd happily pay full price for. It's probably one of the few franchises I would have happily done it for.

But everything I hear about Civ5 screams it's not worth it, for me.

The uniqueness of every civ is also what makes Civ V actually interesting for me. It is what makes it a completely different beast from the others. Each civ has a very different playstyle.


In any case, Civ V will become at least moderately better when the SDK is released.

I really enjoyed Civ V. It's just different to other previous Civ's but then III was a big difference to IV. There is nothing bad about Civ V at all and a lot of the QQ about the game is based on the fact it's simply not Civ IV.

Civ 5's fine, but it has some flaws. I really hate the diplomatic system in the game. I tend to play relative to my Civ, so if I'm playing as Ghandi, typically I won't look to mass murder the AI. The AI doesn't. The AI are bipolar psychotics, who'll declare war on you at the drop of a hat.

I also had performance issues and crashes, but they might be better now.

I like a lot of the changes in the game and prefer many of the mechanics to the past Civ games (like only one unit per tile a very controversial feature), but last time I played the game still had issues.

I think people should relax about Civ 5.

I liked it well enough, and most critics keep comparing it not to what Civ 4 was after release but to Civ 4 after lots of patches and 2 expansions. That's rather unfair, as obviously a game will be more polished after a while spent fixing the flaws and rough parts of the game.
Civ 4 at release wasn't all that great either, it's simply very hard to polish such a big game without a lot of feedback.

I think that while Civ 5 has its share of problems (horrible AI being the major one), it still has very interesting ideas, and it's perfectly possible to solve most of its problems with expansions.

My problem isnt with Civ V, its the lack of the other two Civ titles not in the sale. Again it makes no sense to me what so ever that they didnt include the other two games, Civ III and IV, but again whatever. Their loss. They could have easily put up Civ 3 at 2.50 and Civ 4 (dont see a complete pack) and its expansions at 40% and im sure plenty of people would have still bought either title.

I remember there being a Civ IV complete pack at some time... although in a sale of over a year ago.
