jlg6184: How hard is it for these companies to post actual deals. I mean come on, almost all of those games have been on sale within the last few months. I am so tired of seeing the same 10 games on sale every other damn week.
avatar
bansama: The problem is that unlike B&M stores, digital ones have to get the permission of the rights holder to discount a game. Most don't want to do that and only a handful apparently readily agree to the same old titles getting discounts. Which is bad for everyone really as there's only so many people out there who buy a specific game and most of those games have probably long since reached that ceiling.
I heard steam still gives full payment to the dev even if the game is on sale. Is that true?

Only in term of percentages. The dev/publisher still gets the same percent agreed to, but the actual amount of money paid per unit will obviously be less.

bansama: snip info
Ah I see. Thanks.

Bansama pretty much answered it, but I wanted to point to the Recettear Postmortem, which covers this exactly a little bit. The part about sales is right after the first bolded line, so you don't need to read the whole wall of text.

jlg6184: Impulse Deal

Mount & Blade - $3.99
http://www.impulsedriven.com/mountblade?ref=id

(Any idea if it is worth picking up if I already own Warband?)
Do people still buy games from Stardock / Impulse ?

I have bought from them, but typically it is only something I can register elsewhere (like the BF: BC2 I got last week.

Delixe: The Witcher: Enhanced Edition £3.65
Does anybody know what files do you get when you purchase The Witcher from D2D? Is it a single installer with all the content of the Director's Cut or do I have to download the patch separately?
I was thinking of rebuying it because i bought it from the Atari store and my download should have expired by now. I do have a backup but it is the base game, the Enhanced Edition patch and the Director's Cut patch. The first patch removes Tages from the exe but you still have to remove it from your system manually. If this version is all in a single package and it doesn't install Tages to begin with it would be better.

The Ultimate Wizardry Archives form Sirtech & Interplay from 1998 (Jewel case only)

And the Price £0.99 thats right 99 fucking pence.

Now all I have to do is "aquire" a copy of windows 95 to run it. (will 95 boot from a usb stick?)

Warband is just a refined version of the original, you won't miss anything.

Of course! Who would not support our new Gamestop overlords willingly?
I was tempted to get Sword of the Stars from Impulse, but then it was discounted on Gamersgate as well, so Gamersgate it was.
Newegg has Patrician IV for $9.99
the weekend deals of Gamestop's DD service

A few things that I would like from here but still waiting to hear something back about a return issue I submitted to them on March 10th.

Din's Curse looks like a nice deal for 7 bucks.
I'd only contemplate it if you get a working serial like for Warband, where you can download the latest version from the developers site and enter the serial to unlock it.
