JMayer70: I find the Steam Workshop quite useful. It is indeed convenient, and the quoted disadvantages don't really bother me too much. A few GOG titles are harder to work with, mod-wise, than equivalents on Steam that have active "Steam Workshops". Perhaps GOG could do it's *own* (no collaborations with Steam required) competitior "workshop" through Galaxy or something?
All that would do is further fragment the formerly open and inclusive modding community by adding yet another exclusionary walled garden that's too small to compete anyway. I recall a few prominent modders have already said variations of "We'll upload to Nexus, maybe ModDB and Steam Workshop, but if every other store (Epic, MS, GOG, itch.io), etc, invented their competing workshops we're not going to support that." The end result would be a few popular mods here but otherwise "GOG Workshop" will end up completely barren of 99% of other mainstream mods that people will still go to Nexus to get anyway. And I don't blame the modders when it unnecessary multiplies the upload workload for every single update of every single mod for the sake of someone else's 3rd party walled garden branding.

The sane thing for GOG (and GOG users demanding "GOG be Steam") to do would be to drop delusions of grandeur of competing 1:1 with Steam by demanding they reinvent the wheel over & over but with only 1/100th of the money, and interface with Nexus's Vortex API, instructions for which are on their site. And even then '2nd class' (non-Galaxy) users will still use the Nexus website anyway (as will anyway else to get more up to date version of mods from Nexus after GOG Workshop versions inevitably end up more out of date here once the novelty has worn off).

MarkoH01: According to GOGdb the actual Galaxy build is at least 1.1.06. So contacting GOG and asking for them to update the OL installer would at least be an option to fix this a bit. Getting the update for 1.1.18 might be more difficult.
Not everyone uses Galaxy, and it's still a shame that the Kainga Offline Installer version is still stuck at v1.1.00. I tried contacting the game dev on GOG but never got a response. It looks like the game will never be updated.

MarkoH01: I am well aware that not everyone is using Galaxy. I never suggested anyone to do so. Create a support ticket so that GOG will create an offline installer that is at least at the same version as the Galaxy build and also tell them about the outtdated build. Sometimes this is the better way to get things done ... at least for outdated offline installers in most cases it is.
But my point is contacting GOG support won't matter if the game dev already abandoned the game. If the dev won't even talk to the supporters of the game, they're not going to bother to push an updated build to GOG.

IronArcturus: Kainga

The game hasn't been updated for almost a whole year. The Offline Installer version is stuck at v1.1.00 and the Steam version is at v1.1.18 according to SteamDB.

People have tried to contact the game dev through GOG and Steam but there was no answer. It appears the GOG version of Kainga has been abandoned.

It's a real shame since the game is a lot of fun and I wish the GOG version would be updated to the latest build.
Hi, I had Kainga in my wishlist, so I contacted the author through the game Discord, I asked him about GOG updates and discounts difference between stores, and he's been really fantastic, managed (with the Publisher I think) to raise this GOG summer sale discount from 35% to 50%, updated GOG version to 1.1.18 (latest version - there's already the offline installer) and said that he'll update GOG version regularly.

He said that generally had in mind to update Epic and GOG version with more stable versions (to be honest I prefer this too, to not have a lot of "test" versions), as far as I understood he wasn't aware that GOG versione wasn't uploaded, anyway he solved in really quick time, wonderful.

In my experience Discord is a very effective way to solve these issues, not always, but generally devs are really kind.

(Obviously I bought the game :) )

Wow! Thanks for contacting the game dev and updating the game! :)

Or they ban someone like the Figment 2 devs.

Yes, I said "not always" for these possibilities, I entered in that Discord to see what happened, almost everything deleted I suppose, after trying to understand the atmosphere of that Discord and a few comments about, I decided to exit and to not ruin my serenity.

Bans without warnings and explanations when asking for legit things clearly indicate what to carefully avoid in my opinion. I feel very sorry for @MarkoH01, for the treatment he received.

You're welcome :)

I also cared/care about the game, thanks to your message I've seen there was an update issue, and - with unexpected luck - the dev solved :)

Factorio's offline installers for all systems have been published for quite a while now.
I think this warning can be removed: Only the Windows build has the latest update at the moment

I am fine - but the devs of course lost me forever with this. It is a pity since I really liked their games and I always had the impression that they are customer firendly and communicative. They broke their promise of adding achievements to Figment 1 but other than that I had nothing to complain. This made it even more surprsing to me when they suddenly banned me without any explanation (no, they never answered my follow up mail in which I asked friendly for the reason of my ban).
I hate the fact, that many polish developers - completly ignore GOG. For example: Beat Cop, Riftbreaker.
