tinyE: The stored must have hated those, they didn't fit on the shelf.

All the Tomb Raider boxes were like that.

TheCleaner517: True, of course Stonekeep was a solid box but had hologaphic art on the front.
I would be more awed if a game had a liquid box.

The T-1000 can turn into a liquid metal box :)

Oh yes definitely, though at least Dune and LotR I don't think has any chance of coming here. And don't forget
about Mech Commander 1 & 2! Excellent games, especially the first one.

I'm a bit worried that those dune games will become full-on abandonware, if they aren't already. Perhaps I should torrent them to be on the safe side until I can manage to buy some decent boxed copies off of Amazon. I wonder what the chances are of somehow obtaining a boxed copy of Dune 2. Or at least the box, whatever floppies came with it won't work anymore.

Does it have to be for DOS/Windows? I found a nice-looking Amiga release on Ebay just now. Also a bunch for Mega Drive. And some DOS/Windows ones in packs with other games (one with Dune and Dune 2 on CD-ROM).

Mostly just interested in the cool looking box :) But dos will be preferable.

So, the closest one I found then would be the Amiga one. Do with it what you will.

Looks good :) Possibly the best box cover I've seen for a game. But I probably wont grab it this year though - saving for a new laptop as it were.
Underworld Ascendant
I spotted a boxed copy of Diablo 2 in a shop the other day but did not pick it up suspecting it needs a Battlenet account and stuff, thus probably non-installable by anyone but the original owner.

IwubCheeze: Diablo 1 still plays good today though. If you're using the latest version, you just need to run it via a batch file that disables explorer.exe otherwise you get funky colours.
Same issue with Starcraft. Disabling explorer also fixes it in that game.

That should be easily verifiable by looking at the back of the box. Things like these are usually in the requirements. But AFAIK, Diablo II can still be played without Battle.net, especially if it was boxed and not digital only. I suggest you go pick it up before you miss it.

I'm glad I got the Blizzard Anthology back in the day. Diablo I, Starcraft + Brood War and Warcraft II, all in one box.
I've heard Far Cry3/Blood Dragon are pretty good.
There already is 1 and 2 here too. And it's probably old enough for my craptop to handle.

goldfishfingers: Nice wishlist, some of which I've never heard of before! I'll settle for Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth and the Dune games coming to GOG
Thanks, yeah there are some I cant remember right now but the nostalgia is real.

Darvond: Uh huh.

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/nocturne

I could link the rest, but the idea is, if you want a game on GOG, vote for it on the community wishlist.
You didnt read the very top sentence of my post did you?

IwubCheeze: I know your list isn't a comprehensive list by any means but there's a lot more games I'd like to see on GOG too ;) Good job pointing out AvP2 and Mechwarrior, those are definately a high priority on my wishlist :D

Also, hasn't Blizzard pretty much abandoned Warcraft 1 and 2 now? I'm sure I read in an interview somewhere that Bliz was not planning on returning to remaking or reselling those games or do anything with them because they are "clunky by todays standard", a statement I don't disagre with BTW.

Not comprehensive at all. Was just what I could think of off the top of my head at the time lol

I didnt know they would abandon the core foundation games that brought about WoW or even warcraft 3. They should remake if they could regardless of clunky. I'm not too comp lit. so I wouldnt know how to run diablo from a batch file. Lol would love to replay it again.

immortal1977: >>>Fable 1, 2, 3

Did Fable 2 ever released for PC? Or you want on GOG game that has never released even for Windows?
Not sure. Just assumed it was. However GoG could make their own emulator and sell it with specific games attached so that one could play those games.

Well that saddens me about dune and LotR. Hopefully it wont go that direction. Ah yes, mech commander! Forgot about those. If you get a boxed copy, it would just be for show. Floppys and old CDs dont run on anything nowadays unless you specifically build for them or have an old computer from those years.

It's not too hard, if you still have your original Diablo CD or an ISO of that CD, it's very easy to get it up and running again. The following works for me and I'm using Windows 7.

If you leave the game unpatched, you should be able to run the game exactly as you did it way back in 1997. No effort required :P

If you've patched the game to version 1.12, there's an extra step to get it working properly and it's a fairly trivial one. Install the game as normal. Open notepad and type the following:

@echo off
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
diablo.exe
pause
start explorer.exe
exit

Save the file as Diablo.bat. Put the file into the Diablo folder. Double click the file to run the game. Enjoy Diablo 1 again :)

That's the same way you play ROADRASH without a glitchy screen. Nice.
