I'm in :) but I don't know how much "active" will I be :( I'll collaborate in every way I can, when I can :s

Edit: I used to program in C and C#, but has been a while since I did something with them. I know Java and something else...

Adzeth: Did you want goggers to also answer the questionnaire, or is it meant just for non-goggers?
Goggers and non-goggers.

Drop in and out whenever you feel like it :-)
I'm in but will probably not be able to keep up with the tempo.

Great idea anyway!

Don't worry, I have decided for 2 weeks course anyway since most people chose 1 or 2 for C++ skill, so ... If you don't understand anything, PM me, also I hope others will help you when you're not sure.
Btw, will we be using the same IDE, or is this irrelevant due to the relatively small small scope of the project?

I've dabbled a bit with Code::Blocks (which I found workable, if a bit confusing) and Visual Studio Express (which I found surprisingly nice, especially for bug tracing and fiddling around with many source files). But I don't know how well the latter lends itself to multi-platform programming.

I'm actually more excited about this project than I expected. Part of the reason why I stopped programming games is that it seemed so difficult in C/C++ to manage graphical output (that, and the clumsiness of working with strings). Coming from an Atari ST at that time, this felt like an immense step backwards in terms of usability. If there's an easy-to-use library for graphical output that's usable for cross-platform development and that doesn't get obsolete/unusable every other year, then this might actually bring me back into programming. ;)

I'm going to be using Code::Blocks (I'll be trying to compile the games under both Linux and Windows), most tutorials do as well. Feel free to use Visual Studio, as long as you get it to use gcc compiler, it should be all right.

Not being able to keep up is mostly due to all the other things I'm doing...
This time-thingy gets in the way when you've got a baby to care for as well ;)
I do have some C++ and OOP experience so possibly I'll be able to help out the folks at level 1-2 as well.
I would very much like to be a part of this. Just yesterday I was thinking of learning and developing a small game.
I need some sort of project to finally get my diploma in computer science. I've finished all the courses, took all exams years ago, but don't care much to do the final project. So I decided I'll learn and create a small game.
This makes me very interested in learning and will try to participate in all activities you'll plan! :)
I'm interested in this. Might I also propose a Github repository hosting the code which we can then fork, work on and submit patches for merging into the main branch? It would make managing code easier when it comes to multiple people collaborating on this project.
I'm not sure if I could commit to anything, but I would love to participate. I'm taking a beginner class on C++ right now (mostly just to motivate me to learn the language). And SDL sounds like it would be very useful to know, too.
Filled out questionare

I don't really intend to collaborate on one project, 22 people already showed interest, that's 15 people too many for something like that. Everyone will make their own Tetris / Mario!

Indeed. And think of the sheer number of games we'll get out of it :-D

A GitHub isn't a bad idea though. We could make a GOG Community Game Development GitHub, then we could each have a folder to ourselves, with subfolders for the various projects we will be undertaking. It could also function as a central repository for showing off our work. And of course, if some people do want to collaborate on something eventually, it would make it a lot easier.

Since we're all in it to learn something, and there's no need to hide things from each other because we're not preparing stuff for an actual exam or test, the ability to peek into other people's code (or download it) could indeed help a lot. I don't know GitHub, though I have some (very little) experience with GoogleCode, is that similar?

Indeed it is, Google code uses SVN (and mercurial?) version control system, while github uses git.
:>
Another shameless bump. Bow before my shamelessnessesesses!
