Honestly I'm more confused. Why would you not link to this "well known site" you speak of. I guess I'm missing some of the context, really.

In any case, as long as DRM-free games are available for purchase, I'd rather purchase than pirate. I don't mind if I play a game a few years after release date (complete with all DLCs and patches applied).

It is what it is. Customers got GoG from a closed community, even forbidden because for some time it wasn't clear whether what GoG was doing was even legal, which must have been pre-2008, to a world renowned multi billion dollar business. The same happened with Valve when they started off Steam. Of course difference is that Steam always was planned the way it was. I still remember the huge public outcry about having to register and download a client just to play Half Life² and how there's no manual in the box but a leaf with a code and a DVD!

As for GoG? Old customers not buying into certain changes or having to wait for to long for improvements and planned changes? Sooner or later they will walk away spending their money elsewhere. For as long as the main draw which has been watered down to mainly DRM free and offline installers are there this will still be a strong argument to keep buying here.

Favoring Galaxy in both support and updates a great many will either bite the bullet or say bye, bye, GoG 'twas nice to know you. Maybe while there is even still a possibility to download and install your game(s) offline. Another main draw that there's no need to have a client running to play your games. Play 'em offline, play 'em wherever and whenever you wish to. That is except in cases where a game offers MP and Galaxy is mandatory.

In the end this is no fluffy community of supporters throwing money their way but a business/customer relationship. As such if you as customer feel treated unfairly you either try to change the situation as much as is in your power or don't buy. Same with developers unless it's your one person Indie enterprise. That at least has the character of support while they also sell games to earn money with it and not out of goodness of heart. And just because GoG/CDPR cares so much for their customers and fans or gamers? It is in their best interest to act in that way. That is also part of the business and not fan support. Throw something at the masses they may like and sure as hell they are going to flock and praise you for it.

So when there are things needs improvement and GoG doesn't show to the other part of the equation filling their pockets, customers, listening to their wishes which are very modest, versus their shareholders and interest? Old customers will start walking away and unless a large enough number of new customers can be won over, which in this case would mean people not caring much about using a client, GoG/CDPR couldn't care less about it. This would make it easier phasing out offline installers and the website library and moving everything to Galaxy if that is what GoG wishes. At least it would mean less complaints that maybe GoG does or doesn't care as a business.

As long as revenue and earnings outweigh loss of customers they will do whatever they want to do. Their business, their rules. Great when they listen and change things for the perceived better and if they don't they mustn't. Again, their business, good or bad decision.
