Warning: adult content

Magnitus: The problem is not porn, but deficient sex education in some areas. And nowadays with the internet (not just the porn btw, all kinds of other content), you need to start pretty much at puberty, perhaps even a bit before.
I am not taking a position on any of these issues other than saying gamified porn is just another downwards marker of taking advantage of the reach of the video game industry. Trivializing and dismantling the human condition of intercourse and relationships in an increasingly unhinged manner, offered to a wider audience.

There can be so many a rebellious exception of a game that go through, without raising an eyebrow, until the intensity of blatantly increasing degradation sets in as a standard. It isn't certain places with certain content that offer it and people of certain maturity that can access them, but it's everywhere for everyone.

I can easily block the entirety of a purely adult site from my firewall/ISP, but webpages that could be trusted to provide decent content now require to be filtered out even more.
Frankly the gaming community these days is mostly represented by childlike adults or adult like children, without any afterthought or principles or decency. So this is exactly what they deserve.
To be finely filtered in protected gush spaces, to protect their foolishness from bursting.
====================================================================
Moreover I would never imagine talking politics, but I am terribly sorry if I touched on certain propaganda spoon fed fine points of anyone's psyche.
Last but not least, downvoting just doesn't have any effect on people who don't play by your rules and/or validate your outbursts.
Regards.

Atlo: And judging by some quick reviews on ''the other site'' so are some of these.
It's just... the same comments you can read now where posted when that game was released.
And some (most?) games of this genre are certainly of ''questionable'' quality.

To each his own. The more games here - the better! Don't like? Don't buy. Simple as that.

There's just the aftertaste of certain devolepers in the past calling out to GOG ''Can I have my game released here?'' and either not recieving any answer or '''No. You don't meet our high curation standards.''
avatar
Reaper9988: Yeah but as far as I understand some of those games have come over since then, GOG seems to have changed it's attitude.
It's just weird that people treat these games as an "OR" not an "AND".
These releases certainly don't impact the changes of other games being released.
avatar
Marcus-Havoc: I was kinda wondering how you meant that the 2nd one was? Do you mean simply the patch for the X-rated scenes, or the demoniac patch?
avatar
Reaper9988: As far as I remember the unrated patch took a while after the actual game to be released both here and on steam.
The unrated patch was released here pretty quickly. But I wasn't sure if it included the removal of the mosiac option. Seeing as I downloaded that one off-site from a third party.

For about three decades, I've seen plenty of church going "I will never masturbate to porn" people that commit pretty disturbing sexual crimes. And I've seen plenty of people that enjoy porn, that have families, and are some of the coolest people I've met.

It seems there is also a misconception here, that people who consume porn, do not have mates, and when they do get a girlfriend, boyfriend, etc., they will suddently stop purchasing erotic games. There are those of us who enjoy roleplaying the scenes in these games with our mates, what is wrong with that if no one gets hurt? :-/

It would make more sense to blame water for the people that drowned while being drunk.

Personally, I wouldn't play these games but to each their own. Its great that the GOG library gets bigger and I hope some people may find these games masterpieces (for whatever reason, the art isn't exactly incredible, but its still looks alright production value wise).

Being an absolute shithead is nothing but normal behavior though, considering the world isn't a perfect place. Tons of "church people" actually live in extremly disturbing circumstances, which will, over time, turn people into complete degenerates regardless whether or not they go to church.

"You are what you eat" goes that saying, I say "you are how you live". Most piece-of-shit places drill people to become piece of shits themselves (with a few exeptions). That these places have churches and churchgoers is but a cooincidence, so its to be expected that some terrible people also go to church devotedly. Your environment shapes you, riveting information I know (I am sarcastic here for those who really don't know).

It goes without saying that its just a minority. Porn enjoyers also have a few addicts of that media I suppose. But thats also to be expected. There is no "perfect" medium with perfect people. 99.99% of church goers and porn enjoyers are just normal folk and most of them, at least thats my guess, would never do crime. But a lot of places where there isn't any mental health support will make people go apeshit, for lack of a better term.

I agree, that's why I still enjoy erotic games, no matter what anyone says :-)

Edit: Oh, I got part of your discourse wrong, it seems you support dogma and doctrine; I personally do not follow religions, falling under political control, worshipping idols and pedo bear situations with priests is not for me!

TheGrimLord: This gets into the violence in video games argument though. You're using six thousand words to explain the fact that you think people who play these games might be interested in taking advantage of real people. Well, that isn't the case at all. In fact, many of them aren't even interested in real people or find them abhorrent. The term for this as coined by a man in Japan who married a lifesize hologram of Hatsune Miku, is "fictosexual." Yes, it has a flag and everything. According to sexuality.wiki, Fictosexuals are people who would rather have sex with fictional characters from movies, books, computer games and visual novels as well as anime, rather than real people. It is a form of asexuality and very common in Japan. In fact, over ten thousand men have married fictional characters in Japan according to recent statistics.

As a matter of fact, you will put on a pair of glasses like the hyped Vitrue VR models that made 2.4 million on KS to spend time with that character, either in an AR or VR environment. Holograms also exist in Japan, so that technology will only become more affordable overtime. A lifesize hologram is 1k, which might sound like a bit to some, but it's cheap to others. As technology improves, people will be able to become even closer to fictional characters. And if you have feelings that deep for one or several of them, there is a very good chance that you won't want to even deal with another human in that regards. Some people only want 2D animated characters and that's it. I know, this is a lot to wrap your head around, but the man recently made a public statement about it and all the news sites have been mentioning it. Fictosexuality is a thing and some people would rather just have the avatar and a teledildonics device. The game, Treasures Of Nadia just got updated to work with teledildonics devices, so this is just going to be part of society now.

Magnitus: Honestly, whatever helps someone who doesn't have a steady partner to channel their impulses in such a way that they don't go out and rape someone else (or otherwise engage in rape-adjacent behavior) or worse, shoot a bunch of people in frustration, I'm for.

It would be even better if we provided a better social framework to make match-making easier for more people (dating apps s*ck at this, imho, there should be better ways), but in the absence of that, some kind of fallback to mitigate potential frustration is always helpful (and realistically, there will always be a segment of the population that isn't getting any even under optimal circumstances).

You can say what you will about Japan, they must be doing some things right, because their number of rape cases is very low. Personally, that's a metric I'm very interested in when gauging how successfully a given culture channels sexuality.
You're exactly right.

And yes some people do have partners and play these games with them, but that part is a rarity. Porn leads to jealousy in a lot of women, it can also lead to feelings of inadequacy. Women often blame porn for their marriage problems. You don't see this much with men. That goes back to the statement a gentleman made where he said, "what if my wife walks by and sees these kinds of games on my screen at GOG?" Immediately she's going to think she's inadequate, may get very angry and upset with him. Hell, it can and has led to divorces!

So no, the number of people who enjoy porn together is very small. Hell, my one of my ex girlfriend's hated it. Women also get upset with men for this kind of material and we get the dreaded pedo argument. They may see the characters as too immature or demure and that sets them off.

As of the MangaGamer poll, the number of women into this content is increasing and I'd say this has a lot to do with the large amount of single women diving into BL games. BL or Boy's Love after all is a top seller for women. It's not for gay men as you may expect. Kinda why the top audience for Yuri is men. Of course, Yuri involves two female characters in a relationship. The number is increasing, but there are still going to be many women completely opposed to it, which is why couples will be a very low section of eroge and WEG fans.

I hope more couples enjoy erotica together, it's just another way to enjoy a fun game, I'm always looking forward to it!

not inherently against it from a business perspective, though I'm skeptical these will sell worthwhile

I do happen to take umbrage with some of the language used in some of these titles. The rest are garbage for the normal reasons.

I realize Otoko No Ko doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and is contextual but it would get across the idea of the crossdressing femboy aspect without the implications of trap.

Further thoughts: Rabbit Burn looks like garbage, and I'm surprised they let that kind of texture quality onto the game.

Otoko No Ko Legend is dangerously approaching the lower end of the pool where the kids are playing. Chris Hansen would like a word with whoever approved this game for sale.

Otoko No Ko Mega Drive: Well, it has better art that the previous title, but I can't exactly tell if this is nothing but cheesecake pinups.

Shrine Maidens, but they're boys: What else needs to be said? It's kind of obvious.

Seed of the Dead: Anime girl zombie shooter. The worst of all worlds, your ugly gritty western shooter combined with the obnoxious sparkling of anime. I can only offer a sarcastic slow clap.

There's also people like me who enjoy porn freely, and would be open to enjoying it with a partner, but feel that these items fall below an obvious quality barrier. In a world where Dross, Zackary911, r-mk, whisperfoot, Braeburned, and other artists exist and there's massive archives of their works online, why should I have to datamine a visual novel to see pictures of lads and ladies?

Yes, everyone should enjoy whatever content or art they like, no matter if it's free or available for purchase.

SmollestLight: I totally understand that not every game will suit everyone's liking and that's completely fine :) Sorry to hear you don't enjoy any of the current releases but hopefully all of you will find a title you like sooner rather than later!

We're doing our best to secure more releases and always welcome any constructive discussions about them, of course.
It's not that I have objections to pornographic games, but these games feel like they have the bare minimum of thought put into them, and there were better eroge games made from the PC-88/98.
You know, amazing painstakingly hand drawn pixel art, wondrous music, actual gameplay, we could have Power Dolls, Okunen Monogatari: The Shinkaron, or Tokio [From Artdink], ANY NUMBER OF FALCOM TITLES instead of this kosz na śmieci filler.

Perhaps grow yourself a thicker skin or refrain yourself from engaging in internet activities then, son because boy I've got news for you! There are far greater offenses throughout the web than the sale of adult themed video games (by a business in the business of selling video games, mind you) that don't meet some arbitrary "obvious quality barrier" defined entirely by you for your own self-serving end.
