You're asking for the world on a plate for free. Either you get what you want and pay for it, or you take what's available for free. Places offering free services are getting paid somewhere. Nothing is completely free. In most cases they're selling you to advertisers, or selling your captive viewing to advertisers. So they want your information as much as they can get and will make things "required" simply to get your information.

So you're building yourself an impossible dream box here where you get all these features and anonymity for fre. You ither pay for the features and get to keep some semblance of anonymity, or you give up anonymity as the price for the "free" features.
Pay for things you want? That's crazy! The other day, I suggested something similar to someone else and I was called an unreasonable neoliberal capitalist with no common sense, logic, or empathy. I wasn't called those things by the original poster here but it was still hilarious. :)

HeresMyAccount: But once again, the suggestion to pay for it must fall on deaf ears because it simply is not an option.
It isn't falling on deaf ears. People are suggesting various options that you might consider, whether or not you accept those options is your decision. So far we have found and suggested services that cost money but do what you want (or can be made to do exactly what you want, in the case of renting a server you set up entirely by yourself), and free services that are not exactly what you're asking for (ie. you don't create user accounts specific for your space, but users may instead create accounts for the generic service and access what you share) - you get to decide whether functionality or cost is the most important to you, because we apparently can't find a service that does both.

OK well you've just contradicted yourself. How exactly can it be anonymous if you have to give them your credit card and then they know your name?

But anyway, I don't mind advertisements because I just ignore them.

I'm really not being that picky. I only want:

- somewhere I can upload and download any files I want
- have an account to log in so that not everyone can access it (which is just BASIC security)
- have multiple accounts for different people (or I guess one account would even work as long as multiple people could use it simultaneously, because I don't want it to conflict)
- not be forced to synchronize it because it would be very inconvenient given the circumstances
- not have to worry about it expiring
- have it be free even if it includes advertisements

Is that really too much to expect? Nobody in the world will provide those things?
Free and unlimited accounts with as much storage as you want? Not too much to expect at all if the server belongs to your best friend or a family member. Nobody else is going to be that nice. Even if such a thing exists, there'd be about a couple of billion people in line ahead of you for the same thing.
When did I ever say "unlimited storage"?
If that response is to me then when did I ever say "unlimited storage"? You said two gigs would be good enough but more would be better. Look at all of the things you asked for and ask yourself if someone providing all of that for absolutely nothing in return is something that seems likely to you.

I think he wanted to say privacy instead of anonymity, and some services provide that, or so they claim.

Tresorit could have been a good option for you, but it seems they dropped the free accounts, giving now only 14 days free trial. It's similar to Dropbox but fully encrypted.

I guess you should search for providers based outside of US, UK, China, Russia, Australia, NZ and even Sweden, if privacy is a big concern for you.

There's no such thing as privacy without anonymity.

And I'm curious why did you specifically list those countries?

US and UK have mass surveillance on their citizens, companies easily comply with government requests in regard to disclosing private information about their customers. Australia and NZ (maybe Sweden?) fully cooperate with US government/NSA (see Kim Dotcom).

China has its firewall and everything is intercepted, Russia may do the same thing.

We don't know how sensitive is your data, so better be safe (and a bit paranoid) than sorry. There's lots of info on the internet, if you really want to know.

Two posts above: "with as much storage as you want". That's unlimited storage.

The list of things he asked is three posts above. Unlimited storage is not one of them. And he did mention ads would be ok. Given that, and also the fact that you can get lots of things free nowdays; including full operating systems, and 40hrs+ games, I'd say his question is not that unreasonable.

Either way, stop pestering him please. You're not helping anyone.
You could do something awful and sign up to deviantArt for their ST.ASH service. But I wouldn't count on deviantArt existing much longer. :B Pretty sure it is CTD.

http://alternativeto.net/software/google-drive/ Alternatively, you could just look over this list of alternatives to popular services and applications.

Thank you ZFR.

Darvond, what does CTD mean and why would deviantArt not exist much longer?

EDIT: I can't find anything about this ST.ASH thing. What is it, and why would it be awful for me to use it?

Circling the drain, (near death) and because deviantArt has been falling apart alarmingly rapidly after the drain.

As for what Sta.sh is, see here.

I said as much storage as he wants because he stated as much storage as he wants, sort of. He said he wanted two gigs and then went on to say more would be better. Two gigs is nothing. More than that could bet unlimited but it's fair to assume he doesn't want unlimited since two gigs is so small. "As much storage as you want" is an unspecified amount since he didn't say how much more than two gigs he'd like. In any case, it's clearly not unlimited since unlimited storage doesn't exist. More than he could possibly want or need? Sure.

I'm not pestering anyone. If pointing out reality is pestering, though, then I'll stop because there's no discussing it with someone who believes in a fairytale land of free FTP-like accounts that let you do whatever you want for as long as you want.
