As impostor you have two maps - the blue one that the crew has and another red/pinkish one for sabotages. You can sabotage from anywhere by clicking on the icons on the red map. The thing is some sabotages cooldown goes out faster (doors) and the major ones are slower. Also, your sabotages are shared between impostors so you need to make sure you're not leaving each other without options. This is especially true when one impostor is dead - in 9/10 cases the dead impostor should not do major sabotages and should leave the live one to make their own plays. It's okay-ish to close doors for your active buddy if you think you're helping them corner a kill or prevent other crew of seeing a body right away or press the button. As far as I know (at least on Polus) while there is a major sabotage active the button can't be pressed, only dead bodies can be reported. Finally, calling a meeting in whatever way is allowed on the map will automatically fix all sabotages BUT the lights.
