Ah it's funny, my brother was telling me about this literally yesterday.
What does that even mean? No accent is terrible as long as it's intelligible... so I guess that rules out Geordies and Glaswegians.
I'm not a big fan of voice chat (or video chat or indeed phonecalls), I much prefer face to face communication or text if that's not an option.
It's not that I'm self conscious about my voice/accent, it just makes me uncomfortable for some reason I can't really put my finger on. I suppose it's a sort of uncanny valley effect where face to face is the real thing and text is so far removed that it's fine. Voice and video is awkwardly stuck in the middle.
