What does that even mean? No accent is terrible as long as it's intelligible... so I guess that rules out Geordies and Glaswegians.

I'm not a big fan of voice chat (or video chat or indeed phonecalls), I much prefer face to face communication or text if that's not an option.

It's not that I'm self conscious about my voice/accent, it just makes me uncomfortable for some reason I can't really put my finger on. I suppose it's a sort of uncanny valley effect where face to face is the real thing and text is so far removed that it's fine. Voice and video is awkwardly stuck in the middle.

I see from the website that it's sold on itch.io and seems to be DRM-free there. Is the multiplayer store/platform independent?

I'll make an educated guess and say the online games are hosted on their servers so the platform shouldn't be a problem.

That would be the sensible thing to do if you were selling it on multiple stores, but I've bought enough games on GOG to know devs aren't always sensible...

Yup, it provides both. You get the files there AND it comes with Steam key as well.

Yes, in this case it means you get both. As far as I know itch doesn't specifically support Steam key only games, but some devs are sneaky so keep an eye out for games that say things like:

"Your purchase comes with a Steam key. You will get access to the following files:

use the steam key.txt"

Also some devs are pretty scummy and there have been cases where they've pulled the files off itch when they got onto Steam, updating the standalone version to a stub.

The Rise of Industry devs did something like that (they might have just refused to update the version on itch rather than turning it into a stub actually). Although they gave everyone a Steam key that's not really the point...

I personally am not much up for voice chat too and I think mic headphones I have don't even work anymore so I couldn't play that way right now, even if I wanted to. But I would be up to something sometime.
