Vitek: Were you ever on train that managed to hit a car on a crossing and utterly destroyed it together with the driver? I, for one, can cross this lovely experience off my bucket list (if I had it on it before). What an exciting way to spend Sunday evening.
Drive safely!
how sad. hope you're alright x

Yeah, I am. We on train barely noticed when it happened but it certanly wasn't nice thing to experience.

How frail and transient we are. Better say what is worth saying, and doing what is worth doing, while we still can. Peace.
On and on the rain will fall, like tears from a star, like tears from a star.
On and on the rain will say, how fragile we are, how fragile we are!

GameRager: Nice poems. And since so many are here who have been here awhile and played a ton of mafia:

Has there ever been a game on GOG or anywhere where there's two mafia factions and they both need to win to win the game, and they don't know the other mafia faction's members, and they need to figure that out and help them to win?

I asked the Op of the current game and they said to ask here. No reason btw to ask other than i'm curious.
Sorry for the late reply - I can recall two from long ago, though I'm certain there's been more since (I've heard rumours of a game comprised of mafia factions)

Doom of Idyllia

and

The GoGhammer Festival

Wait, are you sure those fit Racer's criteria? Didn't those mafia factions have mutually exclusive win conditions?

I don't think so... assuming that both of those mafia factions know each other exist (because it's part of their win condition), if they all survived up to a point in the game then they could just claim in order to win.

Let's say there are two mafia factions of two players... once the game is down to 8 players all the mafia players have to do is claim and they've won.

Maybe make a no faction claiming rule in such case to prevent this?

And of course possibly make the scum factions small and/or find other ways to balance it out.

Oh right, I thought "they both need to win to win the game" just meant they both need to win... now I see the difference. Doi.

Yeah, you'd definitely need to put a lot of work into finding the loopholes and balancing it.

One where there are 3 one-person mafia 'teams' that need to win together might be fun. Claiming would get them lynched unless they were in the last 6 (at which point a "normal" mafia team would have already won).

Sounds interesting. :)

This will be practically impossible to implement. And won't solve the issue: when do you want Mafia to win?

People with same condition are essentially on same team, no matter how you call it. I mean we can have 2 Town factions of 4 players, or put each Town player in a a separate Town "faction" and it won't be any different from having a normal game. The setup SPF described is the same as having a single Mafia faction whose members don't know each other.

Roleplay aside, same win condition = same team. By definition.

EDIT: Not saying that it's a bad idea for a sestup. Could be quite interesting.
