Well, that's going to be troublesome if we start the game before Christmas season. Then I don't mind starting on the 29th and only "pausing" the game on New Year's. We could use all that time until then to sign up, or to recall Mafia moments or talk about general Mafia stuff without being at each other's throats.

Have you invited Old Zeog? Would your sister or any of the discord lot be persuaded to join us?

Secret Hitler games are extremely slow at the start. It's not even RVS. It's just someone picking someone and everyone agreeing.

I wouldn't mind a game over the holidays....if you do it just make the deadlines longer and give people the 2 days(or more if jewish/etc) off. :)

I am doing the same with XB1 game pass....testing games(or even finishing them if short enough) and then buying to finish/own after if I like them.

It's too bad they aren't more tech literate(I am assuming they aren't) and have gog accounts....they could sign up as well and you could play together. :)

You are correct in that the game could start without all these days. The flipside is that the governments would probably move ridiculously slowly, as in we'd be done with Christmas and still be on the second, still uninteresting government if not the the first. I don't mind a pause per se, Christmas in general and spending time with your folk is better than a game where we shout "FASCIST!" and "SCUM!" at each other 24/7, but I am interested in having my players not drop out or lose interest because of an ill-timed game going Vacation Mode.

What I'm going to do is start the sign up thread some day or another. I had a very productive day yesterday and set down the flavor that I'll use for the sign post. I'll probably post it and put a disclaimer that the game would start on either 29 December or 2 January, and will have confirmations for each sign up before the specified date.

Deadlines probably going to be a good, reasonable "post every 48 hours, or else the sirens will blare for 24 hours before it's replacement time." Now unsure what to do if a person is intentionally holding back their vote (Joe did that last game). It slows the game down so I don't like it, but then again there are effectively no deadlines in Secret Hitler and so discussion can take as long as the players want it to.

Judging by the fact trent and bookwyrm see something other than we do and they live in the US, it's probably region based.

They likely didn't want to have it change format due to region so they likely just made all people in one region show it as Dec 11th - Jan 2nd, and the rest see it in fully numerical format.

For some reason Europe shows the date then month where the US shows the month then date, so 11.12-02.01 is December 11th-January 2nd.
