I actually had a dream about a variant where, instead of town voting on a lynch, the kill would be made by firing squad. Being a dream the details were a little sparse, but I have some ideas.

It also got me thinking about flipping it entirely, where instead of voting for a lynch target, town would vote each day to select an 'executioner' who got to choose the target. You'd have to make some other balance changes, but I think it would be pretty interesting to try as it would change certain dynamics a bit.

That's really weird... I was thinking that a few days ago too. So you have to vote for the person you believe will pick a target that you think is scum...

The other idea I had was that instead of actually playing the game we all watched / read a pre determined game play out and tried to guess who the scum were from the various night actions and votes (basically the observer thread without an actual game... XD)

We're still in the nice phase of just asking, no kidnappings or blackmail yet ;-)

Touche'. See, logic like this makes me think maybe I don't play because I'm dumber than all y'all... :)

I was just anticipating the results of the nice phase of asking. :)

If you're town and engaged, yes. If you're scum, you probably just want to pick someone you think isn't onto your team. If you're town and not all that engaged, you only have to tune in enough to decide who you think looks town-iest.

I think it would change the daytime tactics quite a bit which is at least worth the experiment to see if it's better/worse. But yeah, it might require other balancing changes in ratios and power roles.

The Resistance king of has this, as you all vote on whether you think the leader has picked a good team.

Yeah, as scum you could try and vote your buddies in, but that might look obvious (though bussing might be doubly effective) if they don't choose a target that makes sense...
It would certainly be worth trying I think. Like you say, it becomes less about trying to figure out who scum is and more about about figuring out who is towniest (making it even more imperative that scum pick off such players, unless they're completely off in their reads), while also trusting that player...

Oh, you're plenty smart, trying to dance your way out of this the way you do is proof enough, so play!
And flattery is not going to get you anywhere.

If no one could be chosen by deadline then a random person is killed. The chosen person could also do a no lynch. If the chosen person does not pick someone then a random person is killed.

No worries. QuadrAlien replied that he is ready and able to host the next game. He said he will try to have a sign-up thread available later today.

Might have been wiser not to tell me that. Now it might be another month before I make a point of sitting down and finishing this thing!

(for realz though, thanks for the heads up)
