Ixamyakxim: I'm in!

Went down a bit too quick last game (after a late start to boot!) and you always run a fun one.
Thanks for the compliment. I hope I won't disappoint! :-)

SirPrimalform: I'm glad to hear that, I was worried you might have been put off by the events of last game. Just read the rules this time! :P
I love it. I've let my side down in 2 games now but it's brilliant. Especially being Scum, I really wanted to play Scum for a while now. I was continually laughing while posting as Scum. Unfortunately I made a serious error of making an obvious misslynch. It was really interesting watching the game transpire from the sidelines too. I thought much of the analysis from town players was really good.

While my lack of research did see me fail because I should have had a pre-written role.....I think many town players failed because they didn't read up on the Tragic Lovers role. I clocked this was the case after both of them jumped on Trent's lynch. You noted it as a possibility later on. But everyone else assumed they were confirmed town. So
Got another signup via PM. And another sub.

Don't forget that the townies were missing some of the clues the Mafia had, like mafia having a chain of command.
Heh, I see y'all have learned your lessons and now make sure there are substitute players before the game starts. Good thinking, good thinking.

What's the observer role about?

ashwald: What's the observer role about?
Observers are people who aren't going to play, but still want a link to a thread where they can comment about the game. Observers cannot join the game as subs; they are effectively the same as dead players, except they don't win or lose.

As Bookwyrm said, Observers get a link to the dead thread.

...So, don't go there. Rather go to the 'Players' list! ;-) Wanna play?

1) When is the game planned for?
2) What are the rules?
avatar
ashwald: 1) When is the game planned for?
Sign up will probably take about 2 weeks. Figure the game to start a day or two after that, and then the game likely won't run longer than two months. It probably won't run much more than a month to a month and a half, but 2 months is a safe bet.

ashwald: 2) What are the rules?
Lift has a few variations he wants to try out, primarily dealing with voting. Other than that, I'm assuming "standard rules", so just check the op of the last few games to get an idea.

2) What are the rules?
Again, Bookwyrm answered correctly. I guess the game will start in about two weeks and run for all of November and into December.

The rules are mostly standard. With one exception. The Days are divided into two phases. The first phase plays like normal Mafia. Everyone has one vote and if more than half the players vote for lynching one player, that player is lynched and the Day ends. But if no consensus is found before Dusk, the start of the second phase is announced. In that phase, everyone not voting will be counted as self-vote. At some point, that phase will end too and the votes are tallied and now, even if no absolute majority is reached, the person with the most votes on them will be lynched. If two persons tie, both are lynched. If more than two tie, one of them is lynched randomly.

But even in the second phase the absolute majority = immediate lynch will still be in effect. So it should mostly play like normal Mafia, only that there is an incentive to vote and that no-lynches due to inactivity are avoided.

The game is open. I.e. all roles are known. (Town Parity cop, Vengeful Townie, Scum Vanilla Cop). The only unknown will be, whether neutral roles are in the game. Up to two are possible (Survivor and/or Survivor/Lyncher)

Are votes reset for the second phase, or are all non-voters treated as having posted a vote for themself?

In other words, if a non-voter is at L-1 when the second phase starts, do they immediately hammer themself and therefore immediately end the day via majority lynch?
I'd like to play. At some point in the next week I'm going to try and sort out some internet for my flat. If I manage it then 100% you can't keep me away

Haha! My plan finally comes to fruition.

Hmm. Can't guarantee availability and since I dislike leaving in the middle of things I'd rather pass. :/
I've been pondering if I can talk myself into another game immediately after the last one, but realistically for this time period the odds don't look very good.
I'll take a second look in a week or so, in case things have changed, but for the moment it's looking like observer or at most replacement for me.
