Shadowstalker16: This thread is still going? I don't like people discussing this, close this down. The presence of this thread offends me so it shouldn't exist.

Come on guys, all together, its a forum sport.

Emob78: The forum fights and flame wars will continue until morale improves.
Its not flaming that's getting annoying though. Flaming is the point where sensible people have to sense to stop replying. What annoys me is so much call for banning and moderation of threads and posters who keep out of ''normal'' topics.

I don't think there's a collective morale though. Other than so many people leaving, I still don't have view the forum as Rome its last years, and many people seemingly do.

Yeah well, hate/racist/xenophobic topics do tend to piss some sensible people off.

timppu: Aging is the most common reason for dying. So until we find a way to stop aging and to live forever, people shouldn't care about other less common reasons for dying, like car accidents, terrorism etc.

Or something like that. :)
As I've explained to others we are focused too much on death and not life. As Epicurus said 'where death is, I am not; and where I am, death is not'.
To put it into modern context we focus a lot of our medical dollars in extracting the last ounce of existence a being might provide, but take no note or debate as to the wealth of that life.
Not in general terms, not in respect to the desires of the society & certainly not in respect of the individual.

An example is cancer research as opposed to Alzheimer research.
With the money that is spent fighting essentially the unnatural trigger of the bodies natural inherent generational transcription problems, we could of had a bionic tech focus on transplanting cloned neural tissue and as a side effect increased human ability to deal with the coming technological age once it evolved into less barbaric gene therapy.
We would still have our shotgun style cancer therapy drugs that people either recover from or die quickly in dignity with; and the bigger restoration of human autonomy at end of life for a much larger population.

Maybe. So when a NATO drone bomber accidentally bombs a Libyan hospital or school, or Israeli soldiers shoot a Palestinian who was throwing rocks at them, let us all remember that we shouldn't concentrate on death, and people (esp. muslims) should not feel dismayed nor angry by those unfortunate incidents where someone happened to die. Because death is just death, we all die at some point. People are more likely to die in a car accident than to a drone bomber.

"Life in a big city", as the late Bob Morton once said.

If there is a volcano eruption near your town will you do nothing and just focus on the positives in your town?

Why are you projecting that people in this thread focus too much on the death and not life? How long will people spend on this thread as opposed to other activity?

Thread like this exist as a backlash against the propaganda that all is well, we should continue open our boarders and continue to give free stuff. Other than some racist people, people use stuff like this to rise awareness all is not well, the government is lying to you.

If the government actually stop lying and do something about the border control, we will be both laughing at racist people conspiracy theory.
it 'cause of these refugees

Gnostic: If the government actually stop lying
Nah, the government isn't lying, they're clear about their point of view. The French PM said "you gotta live with it" and later on they voted against closing down salafist mosques and today they're talking about financing the mosques with public money (thus breaking the old French law that the State and religion are separate).

Everyday, I can turn on the French news for more popcorn time....

Would you care to elaborate on "something"? This is a thread about terrorism, so I assume the "something" they have to do would contribute to preventing terrorism?

tinyE: Serious question, is popcorn popular in Europe? I always considered it American junk food. Come to think of it, I consider most junk food American for no other reason than we are the unhealthiest country on the planet. :P
Hard to imagine cinema without. But around here lots of american stuff is hard to imagine without. Popcorn, McDonalds, Jenna Jameson Porn. All true american values I guess :)

Actually, it's not much sold in supermarkets and at home, while watching TV, we are much more fond of our own local snacks, potato chips being the most popular:

But in cinemas, pop-corns are a tradition and is widely available there.
