tinyE: Maybe I'll play some tropico.

I finished the two games I was playing within an hour of each other. Time to finally break into that series, or just play Doom for the 56,498th time. :P
Tropico5 changed the entire game mechanics up, go with Tropico4.

Pulling this thread back on topic, the tropico series has hilarious election campaign speeches.
You can praise any faction, blame any faction, and make empty promises.
It's really fun praising the Green party, then blaming the green party for all the problems on your island, then going wildcard.

Another slightly odd game called "city quest" had a madlibs style campaign speech minigame.
You selected phrases and the game generated a ludicrous from your choices....my campaign speech ended on the phrase "...we spy on the Batman".
Then again, City Quest was a game where you became either a male prostitute/king pimp of NYC, the last mafia boss of NYC, the idiot prince mayor of NYC, or the secret hobo king of NYC.

Didn't it travel with warp 11 or something when hijacked by some aliens?
Satire, die weh tut: das bitterböse Plakat der Sonneborn-PARTEI zur Flüchtlingspolitik der CDU
That's the point where clever satire just becomes a tasteless attempt to shock. Not Die Partei's finest moment.
Merkel will win again, so the status quo will not change, 4 years 'more of the same shame' (like the Dutch have now)

Merkel:
Christian Democratic Union (CDU) / Christian Social Union (CSU)
Chairperson: Angela Merkel
Membership: 430,000

number 2:

Social Democratic Party (SPD)
Color: Red
Chairperson: Martin Schulz
Chancellor candidate: Martin Schulz
2013 Bundestag election result: 25.7 percent (193/630 seats)
Membership: 440,000

He was a European parliamentaria and a former president of the European Parliament.
If you watch some videos on youtube you can see he is not 'strong' enough many discussions lead to nothing and he could barely keep 'order' ....

The other parties are to fill up the lists cause with 2 parties running there woulkd not be much choice for the people.

So Merkel will win and shultz will 'bow' to any wishes / suggestion she makes.

Anyway its the same with the Dutch:

VVD with CDA, D66 and CU : 2 christian parties, but basically all Democrats and maybe Liberal aswell.

So basically Germany and The Netherlands resemble >90% cause basically the Dutch are a tiny version of the Germans, maybe it be better if they were a tiny version of the UK ( they dare to speak where other parties are silent)

So after the French won and stayed more of the same, the Dutch copied and satyed the same aswell, and Germany will stay as it was...................

If allowed a no vote for a party, don't show up or vote blank. this way the vote will be spoilt.

With the exception of France, I don't think there's a country on this earth with a more effective separation of religion and the state.

Also, I think it's fair to say that the CDU is equivalent to Turnbull's Liberal Party, Merkel herself is probably on the centrist wing of it.

And yet you still have a governing party with "Christian" in it's name. Not very secular sounding to me.

Kaesemeister: TLDR: Piratenpartei Deutschland
We had one, but i think its inactive now, as for the current formation: VVD CDA D66 and CU
(looks a lot like Germany doesnt it? with all the democrats and christian parties and even some liberals)
which are waiting for the German result.
They ( the dutch) were happy Macron won, angry that Trump won and they are almost certian Merkel will win (again).
They love Democracy as long as its their Democracy.

Anyway thats why many won't show up cause nothing will change.

It's just history really. The CDU used to represent churchgoers. It's like the Republicans in the United States - it was called that to reject monarchy and aristocracy (thereby making it fairly left-wing by 18th century standards). It was progressive then, now it's the complete opposite, but the name has stuck. Likewise, most parties with "Labour" in the name have trade union roots, but these days are more centrist.

Some party names are also mistranslations. We have the CSU - the Christian Social Union - but the word "sozial" in German doesn't mean "social". It means something like a "fair and equitable society", usually used in a welfare context. If a company takes an approach to cutting jobs that is "sozial" or "sozialverträglich", it means they're making every effort to avoid undue hardship of the workers. It's usually marketing bullshit, but you get the point (socialist is "sozialistisch", which is different).

Incidentally, because the separation of religion and state is not "constitutional", we do have Christian theocratic parties in Germany such as the Partei Bibeltreuer Christen (something like "Party of Christians Faithful to the Bible"), but they never even get enough votes to reach 0.1% when rounded up to one decimal place. You need 5% to be represented in parliament.

Personally, my worry is not another four years of Merkel, but another four years of the SPD/CDU Grand Coalition, which has become synonymous with inaction, indecision and lack of effective opposition. Makes you hanker for the FPTP system of the UK.

Germany and effective separation of 'anything' is near to impossible just like the good old Dutch , and in a way these 2 (germany and the dutch) resemble another more then anyone will ever realise.
The third look like / clone might be Belgium ( the dutch speaking part, cause the french speaking part resembles France)

Anyway, what is true is that those 3 or 4 are willing to turn things around 180 degrees regarding the 'believe' part.
Other christian countries in Europe stand for what they believe in and on't give up without resistance like those 4 do.

Uk is the strongest, the numero uno, most able of taking care of theirselves which is a good thing and can be very independable if/when needed unlike all the others ( with the exception of some other strong members in Europe which are also known and often in the news)
