KasperHviid: You are on the wrong track if you try to justify your own behavior by comparing it to that of your chosen enemy. That is the argumentation that drives various extremist groups.
Heh, comparing yourselves to the rival. The fact that you're comparing yourselves to the rivals means that your rivals aren't oranges and you are apples, but both of you are either oranges or apples... not a good way to support your argument.
Same mindset as the previous post - you're completely unable to address your own behavior, because your so fixated on your chosen enemy.
Breja's mindset. As usual.

The funny thing is, I can actually see some point in advising newcomers to avoid codedropping - but this advice comes in a form that is overtly negative and self-righteous, and the people behind is unvilling to even consider evaluating their own behavior. This is a far bigger problem than the slight growth of the number of scammers which may result as a side-effect of codedropping.
Heh, this is pretty much the killer point in all of your response. If you want to push your points that dropping codes is harmful, you're pretty much pushing your points in the worst way possible. You're coming off as a bunch of elitists, and who am I supposed to listen to, a bunch of desperate elitists? The title is enough to demonstrate how desperate all of you are to push your failed elitist attacks further. There were much better ways to present your points, but you failed to choose the most suitable approach and are now becoming the very enemies you claim to fight.

PookaMustard: In fact, its too tame to call you a douche, there's much worse I could say about you. You should thank me for being tame.
Why? It's not like I give a fuck what you say at this point :D

Neither I do. After all, I hate your attitude with a passion.

But.... you're still more than a douche.

Let me put this straight, I wasn't asking, I was telling.
Actually newcomers were asked not to do that at least several times, what obviously didn't work at all.
Perhaps a one more div in a new thread/post window code could help resolving the problem.
And personally I don't see any problems with direct form. Hearing don't you even think.. I am accepting it with a smile* unless I want to be bitchy.

The opening post in this thread represents my personal point of view, you may agree or disagree and that's completely fine. But if you're waiting for an apology, that strange thought didn't even cross my mind.

* usually means a border was crossed way too many times to keep asking politely.

No, you are! And you have a big stupid nose!

Breja: I have no idea why this ridiculous defense of code dropping is going on, even less so why the chosen weapon of this defense is trying to pretend that the people asking to stop are acting in some offensive way, when it's the other way around.
I honestly think that it comes out of the same general reason why forum moderation has been so vociferously opposed; because of the idea that individual freedom, to do whatever one wants, is of the highest value. "Who are you to tell me what I can or cannot do with my gift codes? I'm entitled to do whatever I please with them, and anyone who says otherwise is the real villain, because they're trying to take away my freedom."

Trying to make any appeal to a greater good involving a communal whole isn't going to do much good, because to the other person, the only good that is really worth pursuing is the pursuit of individual happiness and freedom.

I'm tempted to call that "Libertarianism", or "Randian Objectivism", but I'm sure there's someone out there who's a Poly Sci major or a Philosophy major who could describe it better than I. :P

I have one. It's very nice, white and padded. But the doctor says I can't have any more roomates There's still a little of the last one on the ceiling.

I guess so, but here's the thing- if we don't want moderation here, then we have to take it upon ourselves to act responsibly and take some care of the forum. And liek I wrote before, there is nothing to be lost by not dropping codes anymore. Just make a different kind of a giveaway. And if you really don't want to take that upon yourself, there are other giveaways like the ongoing community giveaway, where you can leave a code in the hands of someone else to distribute it to a verified user.

There is nothing to be lost by following our plea. The worst that can happen is that it won't work, and it won't limit the number of scummers, so... nothing will happen. There is no downside.

KasperHviid: Tinye PM me complaining about scammers downvoting him - but he failed ot speak up against his own team downvoting only a few days later.
So we have different teams on GOG now? Can somebody please tell me which team I'm in and what I'm supposed to do? Don't want to do something that's against the rules of the game.

You have to kick TinyE's one remaining ball into the opposing teams goal. The only rules are that you can't use machine guns and two handed swords.

Sounds exhausting. Think I'm going to ignore that game and eat some cookies instead.
My team's colors are clear. People ask me, "What are you a pervert!?", I say, "No, I'm the captain!"

He's got balls of steel; I fear that if I tried kicking it, I'd break my foot. Maybe if I used my car instead...
