It's not abandoned. It's freeware (completely different from abandonware). Same deal with Ultima 4 ( and [url=https://www.gog.com/game/ultima_456]here).

Not to mention all the proprietary stuff, intransparency, lack of customization, stability issues, data mining, ridiculous Terms of Service and censorship. It's one of the worst chat apps on secured.fyi.

Alternatives:
- Teamspeak 5 is close to release, but it is not open source and you need to beg for free-to-use licenses. At least you can install it on your own server, activate encryption, it's much more reliable than Discord and features more control over access rights.
- Mumble 1.3 features much lower latency than Discord and Teamspeak, higher audio quality (no robotic Discord voices) and customizability (plugins, bots and even positional audio for certain games). Free and open source!
- If you're interested in a messenger capable of video, audio and text chat + filesharing + screensharing + VR + Internet of Things, check out matrix.org. Matrix is open source, federated, cross-platform, secure and you can even look for people and rooms (Discord still can't). Besides, it features bridges to other services like IRC, Slack, Gitter etc. so you can talk to them via Matrix and they can still use their inferior software.
