What's the catch? A bunch of DLCs? A monthly subscription? Microtransactions? Or do they just want people to join their platform?

The first and last probably the most likely.

Destiny games are quite infamous for the amount of repetitive grinding due to DLCs\micro and the completely messed up story.
But people swear that "it's fun to play with friends" (which applies to everything).
At least this is a freebie, but.. a freebie with a catch.

With my current access, I'd circle the globe on foot before the bloody thing downloaded.

After you complete base game, you can buy DLCs for more content and story, if you liked this game.

well thats easy i dont like it, because it crashes or crashed before i get into the base game, i only completed the tutorial

I doubt I'd ever have paid for the game, but as a freebie I didn't say no. Just spent a few hours playing the game. It's decent-ish, but once I'm through with the main story campaign I'll probably never touch it again. *shrug*
