"Home town to build up"

I am sold... Okay, after my paycheck. A friend's wedding gifts kinda drained my savings for games.

Funny, I was checking this game earlier today. I actually was about to preorder it, I like (and kinda trust) these guys quite a bit, but decided not to because the preorder was steam and DRM-free only and I knew I was eventually going to end up buying it at GOG anyway. So I'll just buy it here the moment it comes out.
Will buy it on gog too, even though the first game is plagued with LEVEL CAP !

I hate level caps.

BEWARE IT IS A LEVEL CAPPED GAME WITH LEVEL CAPS IN IT THAT CAP YOUR LEVELS YOU ARE BEING NOW FOREWARNED IN ADVANCE ABOUT THIS FEATURING FEATURE WHICH IS FEATURED IN THIS GAME and caps your levels.

It does that.

*minor spoilers in the link*

The characters have been revealed: http://www.fortressofdoors.com/defenders-quest-2-weaselmancer-and-archer/

DQ2 will not have any 'generic' soldiers like DQ1, everyone is a character (except summons). The Weaselmancer is a brilliant idea. We need more Weaselmancers.
I pre-ordered this a million years ago. I feel like I'm going to grow old and die waiting for it. Hopefully it came with a GOG key - I don't even remember anymore!

I bought the original game ages and ages before it released on GOG and he gave me a GOG key, so as long as the game comes out here there's a pretty good chance you'll get one.

Yep, I bought the first one for (I think) $5 when it was still beta. I don't even remember how I found it... but I was basically a beta-tester at that point. I've loved it every step of the way, and I wound up with a GOG key for it somehow too... I might have even e-mailed Lars. I don't remember. Really looking forward to the next one.

Ah yeah, same as me. The way I remember it was that at some point he transitioned sales on his site to Humble Widget (I think it was BMTMicro or something awkward before). GOG key appeared on the Humble page for the game.
Some news - public demo / test of Defenders Quest HD is now available. Defenders Quest HD runs on the DQ:II engine, so this is a chance to check it out: http://www.fortressofdoors.com/defenders-quest-hd-demo-initial-public-test/

Also, out of interest - 4 years of Defenders Quest: http://www.fortressofdoors.com/supporting-an-indie-rpg-for-four-years/

It looks like a nice update.
Isn't the public demo over a month old by now? The final should be out by the end of this month if there were no major roadblocks to development during the last month.
in related news, Defender's Quest DX (previous Defender's Quest HD) will be out early/mid June -

I wonder how ugly the placeholder art really is. It also sounds like the game development has a long way to go still as stated in Lars's latest blog post. So another few years until the game actually releases? Considering DQ 2 was announced 5 years ago...
