It's a debacle that the AAA industry will learn from. My heart goes out to the devs at CDPR. Another 6 months or more and CDPR would have carved a new pedigree for themselves.

Didn't seem too bad. A couple of youtubers were having fun experiencing different bugs with CP2077. Laughing is healthy, especially if it makes you pee in your pants.

Back when The Witcher 3 was released, people made lots of memes about its early bugs, like Geralt's horse standing on roofs of houses, staring at Geralt. Creepy!

Maybe the real Cyberpunk 2077 was the memes we made along the way.

I'm sitting on this game until I get a new computer, but I've been having some good laughs at the comedic timing of some of the glitches that I've seen on social media. I am surprised at some of the technical shortcuts the game uses considering it should be an enhanced version of the engine used in Witcher 3, but I guess I shouldn't be since it's only CDPR's second-open world game, and their first game with cars, first-person perspective, gunplay, etc.

Well they are not encouraging refund, they said that peoples who didn't want to wait for the game to be fixed could ask for a refund, it's not the same as saying that everybody should get a refund.

Yeah he definitely has some very "good" points, like:

"It is too oldskool to use minimaps instead of arrows on the roads to guide the player"
"The minimaps don't zoom in and out based on how fast you drive." (yeah I guess that must be near impossible to implement without reprogramming the whole game from a scratch)
"You don't have a garage for your purchased cars"
"Some of the outfits are stupid"
"Your character can't go to a barber shop to get a haircut"
"You can't customize your home in the game"
etc.

I guess a flaw is where you find it.

They obviously released the game before it was ready. Why the people making the decisions were so anxious i have no idea since they were in decent financial state. Maybe they wanted to capitalize on the old consoles before it was too late, or maybe the holiday buys. Maybe they were anxious about global economic situation getting even worse.

Anyway they definitely received critic for not being forward about old console version and about going with the philosophy "we will release it and fix it later".

Personally i have no reason to kick them even more when they are down for this. To me caving to China demands is far worse and serious that my personal self indulgence of losing the chance to play a truly complete Cyberpunk 2077 in the holidays.

Right now the only think they can do about the game is put their heads down and release some good patches and maybe add some things as well and that more than likely will happen.

What we don't know is whether they will have the guts to bring Devotion back and apologise they rushed to cancel it and took a censorious anti-freedom action. that is the true scandal right now not cyberpunk not releasing perfect.

Some of the reactions don't suprise me as some people have the memory of a goldfish sometimes. I'm also guilty of it sometimes but I may have forgotten about the events.

The Witcher 3 was loathed (still by some) at being downgraded graphically. People raged for months about that shit. I didn't really care. I probably would've liked The Witcher 3 more if it was an ASCII game anyway as I don't mind downgrades.

And lets not talk about the quests you couldn't finished and caused crashes, the floating horse glitch, some minor dialogues not ending, halting the game completely (happened to me once but then never again). I remember those weird combat animations that abruptly stopped. After a patch that didn't include any reference of fixing this bug the problem weirdly ceased to exist and I still don't know why that was. Many people bought The Witcher weeks/months after the game was out, which explains many things. By that time, patching already was plenty. There is a high probability that we will see many patches for CDPRs new game in the coming months.

Anyway, compared to day 0 of Cyberpunk 2077 The Witcher 3 simply felt worse from my subjective standpoint. From my perspective, at least The Witcher 2 was fixed completely before I bought it, I remember people telling that the game was a broken mess before they patched out stuff.

In Cyberpunk 2077, the only bugs I've encountered were the T-posing random NPCs and some minor AI and minor gravity/physic problems with the handling of cars. I've heard bugs regarding police chases but I've not yet engaged with that. IMHO a huge problem about Cyberpunk is that the world feels empty and that there are no minigames. There is so much tech everywhere and nothing to do in the city. Also the animations often feel weird and some combat, especially with fists just feels laggy and thats while the framerates are good.

I've honestly prefer a roleplaying game like Gothic 3 over The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 anyway. For the sake of my sanity, CDPR should aquire the Gothic license as soon as possible!

We can learn from this that history is bound to repeat itself even while the same people are participating in the same events. Amazing times to be a psychologist.

Looks to me as if you just made this comment to ridicule this video, because the problems you mentioned are the one that the creator of the video says can most probably be solved.

What about the most part of the video where he says that the imersion is completely runied by
- cars that, if you drive in front of them, they just stay there doing nothing
- people that a) always just one sentence, b) no routine (just stay in their place and don't move) or c) don't react to a nearby shooting (just kneeling and never get up, how about fleeing and later coming back?)
- the police that randomly start shooting at you (as mentioned you just need to look at them, not even shoot) or don't at all shoot at you, even if you start a shooting nearby
- the wanted system, where you just need to go around the corner and '*tada* everything is good

Indeed... and I find 40 minutes just too long. I like IGN's video reviews... I don't always agree with them, but they give me a clear overview. I don't need single reviews to convince me (and definitely not try to 'entertain' me).
I liked 90s PC Gamer (UK) a lot, and (imo) nothing's ever come close since.

Watch the "Hard to Fix Stuff" part of his video. It's a series of very good observations and commentary.

The things you listed there are more his personal preferences about some things, and some of them too are quite good, although I really don't know what the guy has against minimaps.

If you checked the video description, he clearly had divided the video into several segments to separate bigger issues from other stuff, and none of the things you mentioned there are in that "Hard to Fix Stuff" part, which is the most important part of the video.

No, it's perfect length.
It's enough to cover several aspects and issues, like said above, you can skip some segments and watch only some if you are really that pressed with time.
If a game review video is less than 15 minutes long, personally I don't even bother to watch it usually, as it's clearly not going deep enough into the subject.

What is worse, this is not the first time CDPR has done this.

What a disaster The Glitcher 3 once was. Anyway, now it is considered as a classic, so possibly there is hope for CP2077 too.

Somehow I recall even the first Witcher game having serious issues at launch... but that was a long time ago.

Whenever I see something like this happen to me in any game, I just have a good laugh and load a save. At least it's obvious.

The non-obvious bugs are much worse to be honest. Script errors, trigger errors, bugged quests etc. That is the kind of bugs that sucks the most to me.

The scary part is that management lied to the investors/shareholders. The fact that the game "worked surprisingly well" on last gen consoles, wasn't told just to consumers, but also to the shareholders.

There has been talk about some lawyer in Poland, and another in US, that have started talking to shareholders to gauge the interest in a lawsuit to recover the losses sustained by the 40% drop in stock value.

As to how common this might be? I don't know, but I think it's very uncommon, which is why I said this might be "something unprecedented".
