ddickinson: Thank you.

So probably a GOG error with the specs, again.

Also, is Dying Light avalyaibe for you? Someone just said it was removed for German customers?
Possibly - they are still not really modest imho....

Yep it's gone....well that answers your question from yesterday i guess....

I agree, but when you see games like Downfall recommend a quad-core and 2GB of VRAM I am not really surprised anymore by the lack of professionalism and skill with developers these days.

Do I win a prize for guessing it would be removed? :-)
But it is a shame for the German users. Maybe by being on the store it is classed as advertising the game and so is removed?

Still want to try that on a low spec system...because i assume that it would run under lower specs....i'm curious about how those specs are actually determined. Do theses devs test it on their system with the lowest specs...i remember reading something from another dev that they basically said that only had limited options to test the game on certain systems....

Do you want a prize? I mean i could try to capture a frigate...would that be decent prize for you? ;)
Well might be...i don't know the reason but it's annoying to say the least. Oh well at least i don't have to think about getting it during the launch period anymore :)

I do often think they are too lazy to test them on lower spec machines. It is not like it would be expensive to build a low spec testing system, especially not for professional games developers, it would be an investment that would surly boost sales.

Capture a frigate? Where does that answer come from? :-)

It would be interesting to hear the reasonings behind these games being blocked, especially as you mentioned them not being banned in Germany, just indexed. But perhaps they are classed as advertisements by selling them online, who knows.

The reason why they are banned is that these games are only allowed to be sold to adults. So gog has to either block them or implement something to verify the account owner is an adult.

So if they were to add an age verification system on the game page for those games, would they be allowed to sell the German games that are blocked here?

Probably not. I mean even Witcher 3 works on systems below the minimum specs....

A captured ship is called a prize ;)

I would like to know that too. But i wonder by whom? Probably GOG is overcautios....
avatar
moonshineshadow: Yep.
Can that be done online in a way that would be valid? I mean in person you can ask for photo identification, or some documentation to support your age, but online you would have no idea if there person was being truthful. I guess that is why it is easier for sites to just block the games.

I think bigger games and cautious developers put minimums they can guarantee to work for the most part. It might work on lower, but no guarantee. But some developers seem to not even check, or are unable to optimise the code. I guess that is the downfall of things like Unity where game development is becoming more and more like lego building over coding.

Ah, my naval law is a bit rusty. A sailing ship would be nice, but the navy is not as prevalent as it was. How about a nice rocket ship? :-)

Of course, you do know that if there is ever a game here that is blocked that you really want, you just have to let me know and I will gift it to you. That way you won't have to miss out on anything.

I have no clue :D
Since I never wanted to buy something where that would have been needed, I have no clue how this can be done or if other shops do that.

So you don't want to kill zombies? (I think that is what the game is about, I have not really looked)
But they are zombies, everyone loves zombie games, that is why there are hundreds of them, and they are all good. Honest. :-)

Well the new versions of the id cards have some electronic id capabilities. And the Deutsche Post has a PostIdent system for identification which apparently can make use of that...

But even then it's not necessarily a problem because Unity can be optimised quite good afaik...

Not sure if the prize law also applies to rocket ships ;)

Thank you very much for that offer - it's really generous. But i hope (although my hopes are not that high on that one) that GOG will eventually stop doing that :)
But what really annoys at the moment is silence of the blues....

ElTerprise: Something like this would be really cool to have in a kitchen :P
that would be a cool way to start the morning :)

hey... ah... that's what you meant when I mentioned the Bad Guy across the street pushing Dead Rising... it's not available in Germany either? ... anyway around it..?

Indeed :)

Nope....it has a really vicious region lock which means it cannot be bought, installed, started or updated with a German IP...
(that's at least true for Dead Rising 2 Off the Record)
