akhliber: Thanks, and I hope you enjoy your night as well!
I've got movies, games and a lot of Netflix. The evening shouldn't be too bad.

akhliber:
Ooooh fun times! I admit I'm not a big fan of weddings when the person getting married is more "distant" (friend of office worker, that cousin twice removed who lives in Tulsa) but I LOVE weddings for close friends and family! Sounds like you had a good time which is nice to hear.
avatar
akhliber: I haven't caught one word of the forums in a few days, as the gog front store page is really the only page here that loads well enough on my phone to be worth opening. Just got home a bit ago, went to my lady's brother's wedding over the weekend and it was a beautiful and laid back ceremony and a really nice time all around.

*Big hugs and waves to you all*

Chances are, I'll end up asleep before I catch up on things tonight, but I hope you are all well, and send love from my little corner of the world. :)
HI *big return hug*
Good to hear that you had a great weekend :)

CarrionCrow: Well, I just went and checked out the other ending. It's actually not substantially better than the original one.
Given that, I'm going to stick with my initial thought that the game would have been much better as a story if it was one consistent experience and left at that.
The more I've dug for collectibles, the more annoyed I've gotten and the more threadbare the multiple gimmicks have become.
But on the bright side, I'm glad I looked at that ending. If I sat here for another 2, 3, 5, 10 hours until I got everything, then saw that? I'd be feeling a bit shortchanged. (And fucking pissed.)
I see. Well in that case - i'm just going to finish the story when i'll eventually play it and ignore the collectibles....
Many games fail at making the collectible hunt interesting or atleast really rewarding during the main game.

What game? I usually hate collectibles (I'll grab the "low hanging fruit" and maybe a difficult but interesting few if I find them) but I remember actually having a ton of fun and putting a lot of time into getting them for the console versions of 1)Arkham Asylum and 2) Prototype

Not sure what "worked" in those to keep me engaged. Actually, I do remember the ones in Arkham being particularly fun to grab and that the game gave you a nice "ballpark" mechansim that made it less of an annoying hunt to track them down.

It's about Pony Island. I am/ was interested in the game but hearing about its collectibles makes it considerably less appealing...

Well Arkham Asylum was an exception for me as well. Really liked to hunt down the collectibles in it :)

Collectibles? Oh, criminy. And to think I was excited about that game.
I'm starting to miss thick hair... It's only been about a year since we stopped seeing each other as much :-p

Been playing Duke Nukem Manhattan Project while failing at sleeping... I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy it! It's nice to have a straight-up action platformer to play. Most of the ones in my catalog are puzzle-platformers, twitch games, or some other gimmick. Any other relatively simple action platformers (with guns!) here?

[/random tired thoughts]

superstande: Hello! :)
Yeah... It sure left a strange, bittery aftertaste... I ate a whole bag of that stuff :)
How's it going? Had enough rest and relaxing time during the weekend?
avatar
CarrionCrow: Not too bad here. Weather's nice, day's quiet. Just need a game to go along with the one I'm stuck on and I'll be good to go.

How's your day going, besides eating a worrying amount of funky candy?
good morning!
Sorry, fell asleep again... was updating windows and waiting for that...
Good to hear things were/are alright :)

Good morning. =)

Don't worry, no need to apologize. I tend to do that a lot when I've got something slow running on the computer.
One minute I'm awake, and the next...I'm out.

Yeah. I guess having gotten up before 5 a.m. to play Planescape Torment had also something to do with it :)
It was really fun getting into a game with such a huge amount of story. But at some point I was like, "Alright this is the last conversation I can handle today." ...Especially when I just got into this whole story about the game world.
But there are worse ways to spend a Sunday. And it's such a pleasure to tag a game Completed in gog library :P ... maybe another month with PT...

-laughs- Yeah, that game is incredibly text-heavy. Think I read somewhere that it was more than the equivalent of a full-length novel by the time it's all said and done.

Yes it is. Hoping to do that with a few more titles in the near future now that I've decided what to play next.

CarrionCrow: Good afternoon. =)

Not exactly sure on that one. I must've missed the pivotal post that gave the thread a name.

Sheesh...they look interesting, but that is way too early for massive noise. Maybe someone has a bunch of earthworms, you could grab them, feed the birds and get them to shut up.

Here you go. Not sure about other sources, I usually don't ever mod games so my info is pretty limited.
Hi Crow - and anyone who's reading this. Very kind of you to look up the Arcanum information for me, that I should have gone off to get for myself. I always seem to get a lot of garbage when I search the forums, so I'm most grateful for your help. I've never used mods either, this will be a first.

Laughing about the worms, picturing myself wandering around the garden at 4am, throwing handfuls of worms and trying to shush the birds that are arriving en masse, calling out to let their friends know about the feast. It's hard to descibe how loud that sound is, it can surely wake the dead. Wiki says that their call (I'd define it as a shriek) is often heard when the birds are flying or are startled, or when the birds communicate socially, for example early in the morning in residential suburbs (that would be me).

They are huge birds about 76 (2.5ft) long, you have to be careful if you have goldfish or small pets. For some reason, they were quiet this morning, but I woke up at 4am anyway, waiting....

Hope you are well, and that you enjoy your evening.

Hi superstande, thank you for the friendship. :-) Interested to know how you make your haddock soup with lemon?

I can offer coffee if either of you would like some. Good Fairtrade African coffee..

Good morning. =)

It's no problem. I think Arcanum is a trickier game to get mods for since it looks like one person was doing all the work of the unofficial patch and mods, and they finally stopped doing so. It's been years, but that one source is still what's passed around since no one's taken up the torch.

-laughs- I'm really glad you thought my idea through. My thought process went as far as feeding them to keep them quiet. Completely neglected to contemplate the scenario you just described.

Listening to the hadeda ibis calls here. From the echo in the video, it's sounding like they're capable of producing some serious sound.

As always, coffee sounds good. Thank you. =)

How are you doing today?

(Also, just in case you didn't get notified, feel free to check your chat when you have a moment.)
