Evening Crow, how's your day?

EndreWhiteMane: Evening Crow, how's your day?
Not too bad here. Did a bunch of stuff right off the bat, then a standard day the rest of the time.

How's yours been going?

Not too bad today, able to eat again and feeling a bit better.
Just going through wishlists to see if anything is irresistible for this coming payday.

Very glad to hear that you're improving. =)

Hmm. Anything on any of your lists that look especially appealing?

Thinking Stardew Valley would be fun, The Flame in the Flood looks interesting too.

Waiting on Hyper Light Drifter here. Looking forward to that one.
Guys, I have a question.

I have seen many people in the GOG's (General) Trading Thread owning so many games that they want to trade (sometimes like above 15 games). Sometimes I wonder whether these people actually buy all of those games as gifts only or something else, like turning their already owned and played games into gifts when they're bored with them already. So my question is, is it possible for us, people in the GOG community, turn our already owned games into gifts even if these games were not bought as gifts in the first place? If yes, can someone teach me how? Thank you.

The reason why I asked this is because seeing all those people having multiples of games in their HAVE lists, has made me think that they have previously played those games once, or at least for quite some time.

I'm also sorry if I were to miss quite a few points since I myself, has never bought a game from GOG as gifts, but rather as products that I'm going to play. So I honestly don't know whether you can still play the games you've bought as gifts from GOG.

P.S.: Take note, the games I'm talking about are the games that you get from GOG, and not Steam, or other digital distribution platforms.

Again, thank you.

Nope.
The reason people are doing this is because of Steam keys. If you buy from Humble Bundle, they'll sometimes give you a Steam copy and a DRM-free copy. People will play the DRM-free copy and trade off the Steam one.
Or, alternatively, they've ALREADY played the game before and simply picked up another copy from a Humble bundle or some other bundle from some other bundling service like Groupees or something.
Either that or they just didn't want the game to begin with.
You can't convert a GOG game into a gift unless you legitimately bought it without wanting it and ask the staff nicely to do so. And at that, they'll probably only believe you if you bought the game recently. Since everything here on GOG is DRM-free, they have no guarantee that you didn't just download the game and then ask to get a gift key so you can cheat them.

I see, thanks for the quick reply. :)
Hello, sleepy folks of the thread! Just popping in to say hello. Been a fairly hectic time, but I've also gotten in lots of gaming lately. I finally completed Mad Max, which was a lot more fun than I expected it to be.

I caved and picked up X-Rebirth and am really enjoying it. I'm several hours into the campaign, and while it's a lot to take in (I'm always afraid of space games as there's just such an absurd learning curve and intimidating amount of things to remember) but the campaign really does function as one really long tutorial. My main complaint so far is that, when playing with a gamepad (been having lots of shoulder pain, trying to avoid kb/m games as much as I can), there's no way to map everything there are hotkeys for, and the default setup doesn't allow for any way to roll left or right, which will really limit me when it comes to combat, at least. I figure I can play certain parts w/ keyboard and mouse if necessary, but it's quite calming just to fly around in space.

I'm also finally replaying Batman Arkham City, which I never finished (and forgot to copy saves from the computer it was on) and started fresh on. It seemed a natural thing to follow Mad Max with, as the combat is so similar (the melee combat, anyway.) Truth be told, I'm currently playing a sh*t ton of games, but I fluctuate between obsessively finishing one or two games and wanting to just have brief little tastes of a huge variety of games. What am I even on about?

I'm half asleep. Just played a few hours of Arkham City and my head is buzzing too much for sleep, but I'm not awake enough to function. I suppose it's time for headphones and a couch. :)

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!
Well thanks to being reminded that Area 51 is (legally) freeware now I'll be working my way through it again soon-ish. I have it on my Ps2 and played all the way to probably halfway through the final level (or what I think was the final level). It's a solid but not great FPS that takes a few small chances but otherwise is a "by the numbers" 2000s sci fi FPS.

The story isn't bad but is mostly unremarkable and David Duchovny (who voices the main character) sounds bored with the script, which to be fair might make the writing seem worse than it actually was. It also features Marilyn Manson voicing a character, but there were so many vocal effects that he isn't really recognizable.

Probably the most unique thing about it (besides its overall setting) is something that would be spoiler-y if I mentioned it, but I will say that it freshens up the game and while it may not seem unique today, it was one of the first FPS of its era to incorporate it as well.

Overall it'd make a great "backup" game for when you're bored of whatever you're playing and you want a solid sci fi story based FPS from the Ps2 era.

Good Evening and Morning, N2T3 and akhliber! :)

nice to read about stories related to your gaming!
there's so much variety out there, it's nice to get some veteran gamers' opinions and stories.
I mean official reviews are aplenty and it's nice those exist... but sometimes I get the feeling they don't really... narrow it down for me... there's just a focus on things that doesn't really tell me if I want to buy/play that game...
Anyhow, it's time to make some coffee - bought some Peruvian yesterday, that's quite tasty - there's this original flavo(u)r to it, while being quite dark. Then... trying to beat level 21 of Torchlight.

akhliber: Words...
Hey there! Sorry about your shoulder pain, hopefully life is treating you well otherwise!

Got a couple of questions, if you don't mind? Can I play/enjoy the new Mad Max game without having seen the new movie, and will it spoil the new movie? I mean, I played Constantine long before I watched its movie and there was enough difference that the movie wasn't spoiled for me.

Also, you mentioned a week or two ago that Dragon's Dogma has a terrible save system, what's the deal with that? I'm REALLY interested in Dragon's Dogma but a bad system can eventually single handily ruin a game for me.

Hello! I hope you're having a good time of day!

I definitely prefer reading user's experiences with games too, both the good and bad user reviews. Publication reviews tend to paint games too white/black for my liking and often focus on things I don't care much about (graphics look like they're from 2015 instead of 2016 therefore this is a 0 out of ten game, avoid at all costs! etc).

I hope you enjoy Torchlight, I'm about to get back into Shadowrun: Dragonfall.

Haha, yeah that kind of focusing tends to get irritating very quickly in reviews :)

I'm enjoying Torchlight very much. The only thing that bothers me at all is the amount of equipment the monsters leave behind - and this I've just recently found myself getting a bit annoyed about... When you are this far into the dungeons, you need to have lots of extras added to your weapons to survive. But then 99% weapons are just to be sold - and even if you do find a weapon that has some better stats than the one you are using - there's this annoying business of trying to build the new one into a good replacement. For instance you may get a good extra damage out of it, but lose strenght attribute bonus right off the bat - which tends to mean you lose some or all of the extra damage... Then there are the 4 resistances - you are probably going to lose some of those too. It gets quite complicated, but it's not that big of a deal in the end. There's just not many equipment that are just superior in every way to the old stuff - so you end up doing lots of tinkering.

Ah, that sounds a bit tedious, but not TOO bad, actually it reminds me of how Two Worlds handles that kind of stuff. Glad to hear that you're still enjoying it too. What is your favorite thing about it so far?
