l0rdtr3k: The whole movie has so many inconsistency to the lore.
Starting by saying that the Ultramarines are the best chapter,it's the Grey Knights, young scouts aready being promoted to Space Marines,it does take several years for a scout to be promoted right?
The movie was actually quite good, even though it was a low budget move. It was quite true to the lore, and I thought did a good job of not dumbing things down for the fans. It was a fan made project that was created for fans, not really for people new to the 40K universe.
As you your questions. The Grey Knights do not exist, officially. You must remember that, their chapter is shrouded in mystery. They are forged from the very Gene-Seed of the God-Emperor himself, tasked with fighting the demons of the Warp. And after several millennia of fighting in the Warp, not one of them has ever fallen to the dark Gods, thanks in no part to their pride, honour, and the Gene-Seed of the God-Emperor. Very few Chapters know of their existence, and even then only the high level members of those Chapters are permitted to know. The Grey Knights have been known to kill thousands, even millions to keep their Chapter a secret.
As far as the Space Marines go, the Ultramarines are considered the highest of the Adeptus Astartes. It was they who created the Codex that most Space Marine Chapters must follow. A few do not, like the Space Wolves, the awesome Black Templars, and even the Grey Knights. The Ultramarines helped greatly with the Second Founding of the Space Marine chapters.
After the Horus Heresy, it was the Ultramarines who were tasked with overseeing the Second Founding, and the splitting up of the Space Marine legions into smaller Chapters, in the hopes of preventing another Space Marine legion trying to take control of the Imperium. The Imperial Firsts refused at first, deeming their service in the defence of the Emperor to be the greatest, that their legion was the loyalist of all legions and had no reason to be split up, as they would never betray the God-Emperor. But they later agreed to split their legion, in order to avoid another bloody civil war. The God-Emperor named the new Chapter Master of the Black Templars, who were a successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists, as his first Champion, and from that day forward, the Black Templars have been battling the longest crusade in Imperium history, keen to honour the God-Emperor and destroy all traces of the Traitor marines.
j0ekerr: Try not to get too invested in the grey knights. Matt Ward's gotten his grubby paws on them as well. Expect fanboyish mary-sue-ism fluff, in the codex. LOTS of it.
I have stopped reading the Codexs and much of the new lore, due to certain people at GW destroying everything. I prefer to keep the memory of it all when it was great, not now the company is keen to destroy it all for no apparent reason. I won't pay their high prices to read dribble that does nothing to annoy and hurt the fans, especially those who still play the table top version. They must be so annoyed when GW keeps making all the cool armies so weak.
Edit: Okay, I think we are scaring everyone else off with all our geeky Warhammer talk. Lets move on to something more neutral. Do any of you have anything fun planned for the weekend?
Edit 2: Grammar corrections. I hate predictive text and typing on a tablet. :-)
