Good evening all.

Well finished Jazzpunk. It was alright and rather short....

AgentBirdnest: Thanks.

I dunno why! I guess I've been ignoring my freebies. (Except Tyrian - I played that shortly after joining, since it looked so similar to my first game here - Raptor.)
That's okay, I have not played it either. How is the game so far?
(My first game on here was Simon the Sorcerer.)

Good evening, ELT!

Have you had a nice day?

ddickinson: Are you playing anything fun?

Excluding some health stuff I am doing good today, thank you.
Playing Strider at the moment. Aside from the trauma flashback of hearing music that I first heard over 20 years ago, in a version of Strider that was complete shit, it's fun so far.

Ups and downs. Hopefully you can have a lot more of the former.

j0ekerr: And I looked and lo' and behold for there was a pale horse and he who sat upon it was called GOG and the sales followed him and they were given power to slash the prices to a fourth of the full price and rape our wallets.
And I had a vision, in the crowded GOG store. I saw the pale rider on his horse, decapitating people in the parking lot. And all the shoppers were beasts... But the sun was shining, and everything seems fine, so count me in. I'll see you on the other side.

Ahhh... very cool! I only finished the first mission so far. The Russian consulate I think. About how much more do I have left? (In any case, it's already been worth my money. It cracks me up :-))

Oh, and good evening!

That games sounds very familiar. Is it an old Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) game? I seem to associate it with a guy and a sword, or some kind of blade weapon. He could also slide around the place. But I could be remembering it wrong. :-)

Thank you.

It's... meh... well... I suck miserably at it :-p Maybe my brain is just randomly slow today, but I spent so much time wandering around and not figuring out anything. So far, I'm a bit frustrated.

Good evening DD *big hug*
Day was okay - bit frustrating due to more work issues - nothing to worry about though
but i'm fine otherwise :)

Good evening Agent :)

I think there are three more big levels plus the smaller bits like the one after the consulate mission. The game length is the only thing that disappointed me - otherwise the game is hilarious and dumb fun :)

Some of the old adventure games were very hard. I think you have just been spoiled by all the modern adventure games like Blackfall :-). You could always use a guide if you get really stuck. Some of the older adventure games are virtually impossible without a guide.

Sorry to hear that, but at least you managed to have an okay day even with those issues.

Yeah, I've heard it was short. Luckily I got it on sale. I really should finish the rest. I think I'll have to start over though, I don't think I bothered copying my saves before reinstalling Windows last month. Tant pis. Should be fun to replay the first mission anyway :-)

I think you are absolutely right. It seems like adventure games have been easier over the last 13.78 years or so. Around the time everything was turning to 3D maybe? I dunno.
Personally, I prefer the easier modern ones. Wadjet Eye games usually aren't too hard or too easy for me (except Gemini Rue, which pisses me off :-p)

I got it on sale too (and it's now the first game that got the completed tag :) )
Yes i guess the game is worth replaying - i probably missed some references in my playthrough too :)

You're remembering correctly. It first came out for that console, the main character can slide and has a sword.

I'm playing the newest version of it. Was referring to the absolutely atrocious NES version of it earlier.
So, since I won't be here for Endre's birthday, which one of you will make sure he gets his cake with the stripper nurse inside? :-)

3D adventure games? That is just silly, everyone knows the best ones are 2D. Just look at the Broken Sword games. :-)

I think a fine balance is needed, or a difficult level that the player can set? I guess it depends if you want a challenging game with a nice story attached, or a nice story with a little gameplay attached.

Sadly not, but it's okay, I still had a lovely evening. :-)

That is about all I can remember about it. I am not sure if it was a good game or not. A new version? Is it still a 2D side scroller, or have they made it 3D?

*looks at Broken Sword* (Haven't played it yet :-p)

Gemini Rue has a difficulty option for the shooting sequences. I don't know if it works though, because it doesn't seem to make it any easier. I think fine balance is best. Or some kind of hint system maybe...

I really like the first Broken Sword games, the 2D ones. The first game was one of the first adventure games I played, and it is set in Paris as well, and centred around the Templars.

I have not played Gemini Rue yet either. My backlog must be so lonely. :-(
