happy holidays cheer!

Can some one share detailed instructions to activate the Galactic Civilizations III cheat codes (I read that the command console is used).
I have tried the instructions posted on steam forums but apparently there is a missing detail for this GOG version of GalCiv 3
After countless variations to activate the console window, i remain frustrated.

Thank you superstande, yeah I was holding off on writing support but that seems to be my only remaining hope.
As for a forum reply Stardock is a steam community and I no longer have that account. I'll give the GOG community a day or so.

According to what I read it should be making a shortcut to the game file with 'cheat' at the end.
I don't have GalCiv 3 but it should look something like this:

C:\GOG Games\GalCiv3.exe cheat

Then pressing the ` (same key as ~) key should open the console command line.
