Well the start is the German text of Ode to joy mostly taken from a poem by Friedrich Schiller:

Is France a he or a she? I know many places call their homeland a he as they think it sounds more manly. I know the US refers to theirs as a man, we refer to ours as a woman, I think Germany was also a male during the war but I am not sure about in general, and Russia is a female. [/end random silly thought]
