Purely a coincidence (this time). I was coming to see if anyone else was chatting about the early start of Xmas. Though I was heartened by all the pro-feminist talk here. So glad to see that going on, it's a vital antidote to the hatemongering which festers elsewhere on this board.

Thanks! Closed last week and the furniture and internet setup has been ordered. Hope to have a lot of it ready for habitation by the end of this month (knock wood), though will still be moving some things over throughout December.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There's always so much to do and so little time to do it in, and I find that the weather this time of year doesn't really contribute to feeling energized either. :P

I don't think people worry about it too much, it is never expected of people, and the two lists helps with those who might want to get you something but can't spare a lot. But even if they can't get you anything then a nice happy birthday on the 26th will be just as good. The gifting tradition is just some extra fun that Agent started. :-)

I am doing about the same, I had a bad episode over the weekend which is taking its toll a little, but I am doing as well as can be expected. I was supposed to be getting some more tests and things done today, but they have all been moved to the end of the week, which is good as I can get them all done at once and not have to travel several days.

Christmas is not as big over here as it is in some other countries, I think, as we also have a different celebration at the start of December. Still, didn't keep the city from putting up festive lights and other decorations two weeks ago. And I've already spotted a christmas tree here and there in some warehouses.

Plenty of good Mormon jokes, but I doubt you would get many laughs :-p

I think people are in the mood earlier due to Trent's Secret Santa. The gifts need to be in before christmas so I think he wanted to get an early start on it. This thread is usually good for some civilised discussions on different topics, although we tend not to stick to one for too long in case it attracts those same hatemongers you mentioned.

I bet it is a load of your mind now that it is all yours, and what a nice way to spend Christmas in your new home. And the knock wood thing makes me smile as my father is always saying that, then looking everywhere for the nearest piece of wood, which if he can't find he hits his head. :-)
