Stilton: Which actually makes it something pretty great to look forward to. Tons of mind-places to go is pretty healthy in my opinion, and a necessity these days.
CarrionCrow: Indeed. There are plenty of things to try, from every genre possible.
The only question is, which series to check out first?
(Actually, I have an idea on that one.
Braveland might be paper-thin as a series, but it seemed to have sparked an interest in more in-depth turn-based strategy RPG-type games. That leads to King's Bounty (typed Quest in at first, but that's a point-and-click), Blackguards and Heroes of Might and Magic.)
That choosing reminds me of something. The thing which brought me to GOG initially was an interest in all of the old stuff, which in turn has made me a lot more aware of game history. Your remark above is a part of why my own collection looks a bit like a half-built zeppelin at the moment (thin point at the start, rapidly swelling body further along...). Its that interest and pleasure in seeing how things connect and what kind of artistry, intelligence and good ideas people put in their games. It follows then that collecting a large number of games is inevitable and that it doesn't really matter how many games a person has, or how many of those can be called good or bad games. Ultimately its irrelevant. The reason why the excitement comes at the beginning of a sale, and even when a sale turns into a 'stale' and we're hanging around on the off-chance of a surprise or two, is because of the high we get at adding something else to the collection and trying it out. Something which belongs to the gaming history we find so appealing. This, at least, is how I feel about it.
Caveat: it is pretty early in the morning here, so I could just be living on cloudy imaginings and talking out of my arse (it wouldn't be the first time).
Empress_Owl: I thought we were Sunday !... since today was a day off... is this armistice day also a day off in other countries ?...
**Good night hugs all around** :) See you tomorrow !! Have a nice day/evening/night !
Sleep well, Owl!!
