Things are looking good so far, just a few little touches left to some personal little gifts and things. I have a lovely morning planned, then lots of nice stuff during the day, and a lovely romantic evening. I am quite looking forward to it, and especially to see the lovely smile on my partners face. She has been a little stressed recently due to all the stuff with her aunt and all the abuse, so this is just what she needs to cheer her up.

Have you picked up many games from the sale so far?

There have been some really good deals this time round and I'm pleased with what I've bought, but I'm still in that middle ground of wanting a fair bit more. Which I suppose is a roundabout way of saying, yes, I've picked up quite a lot! It was helped no end by the amazing day I had last Sunday :-)

I am still glad that you had a great time with out little gifting tradition. If I am honest part of the reason I hid my birthday is that I did not want to take part. But then I mentioned my birthday when I got back as I was not thinking. I kind of hoped it would remain a bit of a secret, but lately my mind is all over the place and I keep making silly mistakes like that. :-)

Confronted with a collection the size of yours I'd probably need hospitalization. :-)

I don't think the D&D bundle that includes items like Baldur's Gate and Icewind will appear this time around. Thinking GOG's saving those for next month. Also thinking it's too soon for the Gold Box games to be on any kind of discount.

Yeah, she's a good lady, on top of being a big-time ninja. I'm sure she'll appreciate whatever you decide to grab for her.

That is a shame, but no matter, as I said, I can always get full price games, it just seems more fun for some reason getting them during a sale. :-)

I am not sure that you will even be able to gift me anything next year with how things are going. (I mean as in having no games left on my wishlist. I just read that back and given my health at the moment I thought in the wrong context that sentence could have a much darker meaning, even if there could be some truth to it.)

At least the rental side of things is far more manageable. For the rest, I'll slowly make my way through it all. Not expecting the backlog to be gone this year, or even in five years.

Which actually makes it something pretty great to look forward to. Tons of mind-places to go is pretty healthy in my opinion, and a necessity these days.

I can't, I struggled to add so many this time, and even then I want to take some off as they are sequels to games that I have not played yet, but that I have heard good things about and think I will like them so I figured I will pick the sequels up as well. I can't really say that any of the games are a must have for me at the moment.

Indeed. There are plenty of things to try, from every genre possible.

The only question is, which series to check out first?

(Actually, I have an idea on that one. Braveland might be paper-thin as a series, but it seemed to have sparked an interest in more in-depth turn-based strategy RPG-type games. That leads to King's Bounty (typed Quest in at first, but that's a point-and-click), Blackguards and Heroes of Might and Magic.)

Do you have many in your library? I think some of the fellas here go a bit loopy because so many of the games are gun-/war-/conflict-based and not genres the gentle sex are drawn to. The puzzlers and rpg/adventure games suit both, so there's immediately a disparity between the genders. If there were more of your type of games, you'd probably have a larger wishlist.

Also, not all of my library (or my wishlist, for that matter) are must-haves. There are things in/on both which I like simply because they give me pleasure for one reason or another. I used to b a lot more selective, but I felt like I was missing some of the the fun, so my interests spread.

Blackguards got a lot of negative reviews, but I quite liked it. Mind you, I did read a few guides about how to build a character (and make sense of the Dark Eye system.)

I think I have less than a 1/3, and even then many of the games are just ones that I had a slight interest in. And you watch those stereotypes mister, we ladies love all types of games >:-p. I like a good war game, FPS, strategy, I like a good mixture of genres. I actually did a giveaway questionnaire thing last year on the topic, and you would be surprised how similar the tastes are between the sexes. So less of those categorising thoughts of yours. :-)
