FearfulSymmetry: Hmmmm ... I'm thinking about getting the Myst bundle, but I'm not really sure yet. I've never played one of those games before. Any recommendations?
This is a very good description of the first game. The rest are similar.

Hoo! More kitty pictures! Cool! ;)

Taking a break from Chromatic Squid... or what ever the game is called... keep forgetting it...
Chroma Squad, that's it, I think.
Been playing games quite a bit lately. Should probably do something else... maybe... jogging?

*goes to look front page, hoping there's nothing interesting*

EndreWhiteMane: Nice sale items, time to pet the squirrel, grab your nuts and get some X games. (sorry ladies, it's a sexist sale) :-)
Typical, I guess we will just have to wait for the cooler Y(s) sale. :-)
(Pretty sure that makes no sense, but oh well, I am still quite tired and more than prone to make silly comments when I am this tired.)

And get well soon, or else! :-)

*big get well soon hug*

l0rdtr3k: Get it,now. It's one of the finest examples of adventure games out there.
Just be prepared for some really cryptic puzzles.
Yep, it's definitely famous, which is part of the reason why I'm contemplating it.

Empress_Owl: I got the bundle from a previous sale... not played it yet... I only played the first one back then... it's a very slow and peaceful game... screen after screen... you can't die (I think)... you can get stuck on the other hand >:-|
Haha. :P Well, I'm not above using a walkthrough if I really get stuck. :)

Thanks for the link, Endre. :)
So, back from the weekend and a GoG trope FINALLY happened to me for the first time! The "I already bought it on X..." (ironically enough this time for the game X3 ;) ).

When GoG ended up with TIE Fighter last year, I knew I needed a nice shiny flight stick. Having said flight stick in hand (heh, did it again) I sought to track down a flight sim and realized it had to be X3 (after seeing a few nice writeups from people here - I had completely missed the game the first go around).

Eventually I settled on a physical copy I found on Amazon, that thankfully was DRM free - I did some checking around to make sure as I think I had heard they had some nasty DRM on first release.

But, now it's here!

EndreWhiteMane: Morning all, hope everyone is at least OK today.
Still sick as a dog (whatever that means) here but I think I'll live.

I assume you know something about this series. :-)
May I ask you for a opinion about these X games?
I have a soft spot for space games and this X bundle is tempting.

True ! ô__ô .... It didn't exist when the game was released... I mean, I hadn't Internet... !
When we wanted to cheat, we had to search in magazines or ask my dad's colleagues :D hihi

Beyond the Frontier is the only one I own so far and I haven't gotten very far.
Very good but also very complex and a bit buggy. Even with all that I'm looking forward to starting the series over and learning as I go.

I played X3 about a year ago - I sunk a lot of time into it and barely scratched the surface. There are others out there who have 1000Xs more info on this than I do, but I like to think I can give a good "newbie" sort of perspective.

The game is less a space combat game than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, you can find a fight if you're looking for it but a lot of the game really is exploration and ESPECIALLY building an economic empire. You'll start by trading goods, eventually you'll end up building massive stations that produce those goods.

You can fly EVERYTHING - but it'll take a while. I never was big into MMOs, but this game gives me a "single player MMO" sort of feel. Old school MMO that is. It moves slowly at times and can feel like a bit of a grind, but the payoff (I didn't come close to approaching this) is controlling a massive fleet of capital ships and self sufficient production stations that supply the enormous galaxy.

I put in a lot of time, but really didn't even touch the surface of the game. I ended up with a handful of transports, well shielded; a nice little squadron of snub fighters and my first purchased station that never became profitable LOL. So, if what I'd say sounds interesting I'd have no problems suggesting picking the game up.

If you're looking more for a straight space shooter or tons of combat, or if you're OCD and have to do EVERYTHING, I might say hold onto your sanity and hold off.

Personnaly, I don't find many games interesting in this sale... mmostly because I already own many games, and also because the sale is soooo peaceful... a bit like Myst !! ;-p
Myst sale... ! :-O
;)
It's like a sale for the senior citizens.... Old grannies taking their time thinking... "Ooh... there's a sale on gog... Ooh Mmh I'm going to take a nap. Then I will maybe start thinking about should I buy something..."
And another one says from her rocking chair, "Yees, dear, sounds like a good idea. No need to rush this... Uuh... What were we talking about...? I'm going to take a nap..."
