Stilton: That's great. Should start me off well, thanks :)
And a new wave of thrills and excitement is nearly upon us....
CarrionCrow: You're welcome. =) If you read through the stuff and find it interesting, I'd suggest going from that to the D&D 5th Edition Starter Set. It's a basic version of the game, only with things you'll need like dice and what-not.
Not sure how the prices are for you, but here, it's a little less than half the price of a single full rulebook. It's a much lighter commitment financially than spending 30 dollars apiece, times the three main books for D&D.
You'll need at least one person besides yourself. There are players, and there's the dungeon master.
The dungeon master is the referee of the game. They set the stage, design the plot, play as the monsters in combat, and act as every non-player character. When the players are talking to everyone from the bum in an alley, to the local king, it's all the dungeon master acting out those roles.
The players are, well, players. They make characters, go on adventures, all the standard RPG stuff. (If they don't end up being killed in some stinking dungeon, lost and forgotten.)

It's time... -laughs- Thanks, something to smile about. This really is a non event event. At least they're going to give everyone the opportunity to sort through and see what they really want, but overall it just...its....completely without zazz.
And that explanation of Dungeons and Dragons has got me wanting to have a go. It looks really involving, plus its good old-school sit around a table and communicate gaming, which has to be good.
