Ho yeah, I kinda remember the unbanning. Like 3 years ago, right? Did they finally decide it was artistic? õ__ô

Well they just acknowledged that the depiction of violence is no longer harmful for young people ...

Stilton: I AM INTERRUPTING THIS BROADCAST FOR AN IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR THE FORUM:

My daughter wants a pet dog - should we get her one?

Opinions and reasons, please. Thank you :-)
man that's a loaded question.

First, do you have time for the dog? It takes a lot to train them and as puppies they need a lot of attention. If someone is home most of the time, this shouldn't be a problem. Some breads also need a lot of attention even after the puppy year, like Springer Spaniels. Unless you have a lot of yard, the dog will need to be walked a couple times a day, rain, snow or shine.

Second, research the breeds if you are going pure-bred route. Even if you are going mutt, it's still a good idea so you can understand if the dog is going to match. For insance, terriers are a working breed, and need a lot of stimulation or they can get mean. Springers can't be left alone for more than a few hours, they need constant attention. Other breeds are notorious for being dirty, so if you like a clean house, best not to go with those. Research, research, research.

Third, can you afford a dog? Food, grooming (some breeds need haircuts), and vet bills. Your dog will get sick and need medical attention at some point.

Fourth, is you daughter ready to take care of a pet? She and you are going to have this animal for at least 10 years. Ready for the commitment?

I've grown up with dogs and I love them, they bring so much love and joy into your family so long as you give them what they need to be happy. I would love to own a dog myself, but I just can't make the commitment I need to one, so I have my cat.

:)

ElTerprise: Yes. Cats are great animals slthough i usually guess that the cats actually have humans as pets :P
That's true. Years ago my sister received a kitty as a gift from her boyfriend. We all lived together at that time, my mom, my sister and myself, and we noticed that Penelope (the kitty) preferred to seek me first whenever she wanted something. I guess she chose me as her main human pet. :-)

That's a very sensible outlook. There are so many choices with so many consequences that walking into dog ownership without finding out what the whole thing is about is inviting trouble. Any way to reduce potential problems and expense etc. is well worth investigating fully first. I think I'll print out all of these replies and use them as a handbook! Thank you :-)

That's exactly what i meant. I'm my case our cat has main pets for different tasks ;)

WE have nothing to say about owning a dog. ;)
Um...did GOG eat the rest of the sale?

I know the forum eats posts...chat messages...people's patience sometimes...but did the site actually eat, like, three-fourths of the fucking sale?

Are you fucking kidding me?

Now my eye is twitching...

We're down to the day 2 12 hour rotation, yesterday was pretty much the entire sale all at once.

Okay. Thank you for the info.

Holy shit, am I glad I passed on doing a tracker thread. I'd be foaming at the mouth by day 3.

Guess it's time to take the zazz out behind the shed and ventilate its skull with two barrels full of buckshot.

Yeah, it'll be a bit boring from now on, new bundles and they said a few new items per day from here on out.
Finding those few new ones every day will be a game in itself. :-)
It was a nice 1-day sale ;-) Excitement, yelling, overindulging...
The rest is just... leftovers. 10 days of leftovers, which will get moldy and gelatinize quickly.

A lot like Thanksgiving :-)
(Well, except I actually enjoy hanging out with you guys.) ;-)
