CarrionCrow: They're useful, but it's very scattered. What you need to start is the two main rulebooks (which used to be one rulebook, but anyway), the readouts to check out and pick designs from, and the miniatures and maps to actually play the game.
Everything after that is an add-on. Nice, but very optional.

Also, said screw it. I'm now a backer on the same level as you. =)
(I sincerely hope you're in the mood for PVP Battletech when the beta starts. You'll be the first person I bug to fight against. >=) )
Yes. That's i was getting from them too plus outside from what i've read about the universe i don't know anything about it :)

Congrats - i guess 50$ well spent :)
Well i'm usually not too much into multiplayer but i'll try it :)

I think they'll be able to pull it off. And where the Shadowrun series is starting to get a bit stale in its presentation, Battletech has so much lore and so much progression over time that it has to keep moving forward.
People won't be content playing in 3025 forever, not by a long shot. There are dozens of new weapons, hundreds of new mechs and several encyclopedias worth of story to go through.

Just avoid water when you can. It reduces the enemy's chance to hit, but if they do, the chance of a head shot increases. The head is the universal weak point. Whether you're driving a 20 ton scout or a 100 ton assault, heads all have the same amount of armor.

Yeah - i'm not worried otherwise i wouldn't have backed that in the first place. Yes that's for sure but i think it's a bit too early to talk about potential sequels without having the game released or even close to being finished. But yes there lot of potential for (a) sequel(s).

But i'm curious about what will follow Battletech...

Likewise. Between the track record of Shadowrun, none of which are what I'd call bad games, and the people they have with so much experience in Battletech's development, I'm confident that they'll do it right.

Beyond the first game, I'd say this would be the next stop, historically. After that, would say the invasion of the Clans would be coming. That'd make sense in a way since it'd give them two games to get the core mechanics fine-tuned, then start adding all the new plot, weapons and Mechs that came with that period in time.
Hi people. Hope you're doing well.

For some reason I woke this morning feeling like I'd been turned inside out. Ringing in my head, bad pain in my guts, weak and aching all over. I won't be staying long - I need my bed. Hope your days have been less exciting than mine.

Yes think the same here - it's really unfortunate that it isn't 2017 already ;)

Sounds great. Yes i think that's a good way and if they can improve the mechanics like they did with the Shadowrun games everything will be fine i guess.

BTW: Bookmarked the wiki. So thanks for the link :)

Moral of the story - never drink the green mead, no matter how thirsty you are after beheading people.

Seriously, though, I hope you get to feeling better. Plenty of rest, get your helmet on straight. =)

Its rare that this kind of thing happens. I feel a little better than this morning, but I won't be running any marathons soon.

Plenty of rest sounds good, and hopefully helmet-straightening will follow soon afterwards ;-) I wanted to show up earlier, but even sitting in a chair hurt. As a battle-hardened Viking I shouldn't be saying that, of course, but right now I really couldn't give a shit. Great things, human bodies, if you're into arbitrary doses of pain from out of nowhere.

Right, moaning over. I see Battlebeards has generated enough cash to keep the devs happy.

EDIT: I can't even type prooperly...
