Stilton: Okay, an important message for Fearful here....

We've got some serious limbering up to do because Sunday is a day of extreme importance for both of us.

Its the beginning of a concerted one month, all out, super-focused, creatively-uncertain, effort-dependent attack on a huge area of empty space with as many coherent ideas as we can manage to fill it with. And if that wasn't enough, those ideas have to somehow link together to make one even greater idea which will be not only entertaining but rewarding to anyone foolish enough to pick what we have spent so many hours struggling over and start reading it.

Its madness, pure and simple. But its also a hell of a lot of fun!

The very best of luck to you on your November journey :-)

j0ekerr: And I see you are too.
Yes, its great and terrifying at the same time (and hard work). But when you get to the end there's such an amazing feeling of achievement that you're incredibly glad you put yourself through it. You should try it yourself :-)

FearfulSymmetry: I told Agent to try giving his stomach ache a stern talking to ... might try that, I suppose. :P
The silent treatment doesn't work too well. You gotta feed it at some point, or else it just starts complaining more :-p

Stilton: What a great idea! I've never started at a minute past twelve before - I think I'll do it this time :-)

Fancy dresses are great, although with my legs....

FearfulSymmetry: Youtube's not allowing me to actually watch the video, so I'll just have to imagine myself some Monty Python. :P I really like starting at midnight and getting the first 1000 or 2000 words out of the way. Then later during the day (after some sleep) it's nice to come back to it and see that you already have a start.

Haha, fair enough. :P Don't let that stop you, though. :P
Try this one, or this.

As rewarding as it sounds, I have absolutely no idea where I'd squeeze the time from right now. A year ago I wouldn't have had any problem , time was all I had. This year, I have lessons, revision and this persistent neck cramp last week convinced me to join a gym to keep in shape.

I think I'd need a time turner to juggle all of those.

Haha, that's true. Hunger is even worse. :P

Well, I think I'll call an end to this disappointing evening and go to bed, despite the fact that I still haven't caught my nasty uninvited guest. *big hugs for everyone*

I wish I had a time turner. The novel writing is likely going to cut into the time allocated for sleep this year.

I'll listen to it in the morning! :)

You are clearly a rabbit with enough on its plate... :-)

A pity, but if the time ever allows, it really is worth a go.

Stilton: Leo, its all revealed here...

Come and join the fun if you like a challenge!
Sorry for the late response. I was checking NaNoWriMo site.
Well, it is tempting and frightening at the same time. :-)
50000 words in a month? I'm overwhelmed already. I don't know if I can face this kind of challenge.

It seems like a lot, but when you break it down to 1,667 words per day, and break that down further into as many writing session as you want, its amazingly manageable. And the even more amazing thing is: YOU DON'T NEED A PLOT. When you start to write, your characters arrive when they need to and do the things they need to do, and after 30 days they're more than likely through with whatever they were doing and you have a story. That is really kind of it :-)

Stilton: You are clearly a rabbit with enough on its plate... :-)

Actually I do have 20-odd year old setting for a story. Problem is, it's an adolescent power fantasy in which practically every character is overpowered. You see, the kernel of the story originated during those long treks to and from school, particularly during the bits were you split with your friends and walk the rest of the way alone, and you occupy your mind with... adolescent power fantasies about overpowered characters.

Thing is, the damn thing kind of stuck with me, I fleshed it out, gave it a background, a history, I never really abandoned it and slowly evolved it over the years.

The main problem though, is that the main character was always practically on Tiamat power levels. Which as I grew out of the power-trip phase, I realized how unwieldy and mary-sueish that was. So I eventually left it behind, although I still remember it fondly with the nostalgia of a simpler, easier time.

Same from me.

Stilton: Redemption. It went off on a peculiar tangent and I lost all interest. Its like what I imagine the Bloodrayne games to be, which haven't played but which seem to be trying to add something exciting to the Vampire mythos and in so doing lose the plot completely
Get Bloodlines. Seriously. You'll love it.
For any who haven't heard me mention it before, my favorite family friendly Halloween movie:

What he said. It's like comparing Fallout to Diablo.

j0ekerr: I like your style my friend. That is why I will paint it bright orange squeals with neon pink sighlights.
And that kiddies is why a Malkavian mindset is an oxymoron. You should call it mindfloat.
Orange is the colour of woe. The sigh is the light of the answer. Wisdom is a tool of the wicked. They're laughing and laughing until the shiny birds burst into flames. Paint your room with their entrails, make the gods of the taint smile!
