ElTerprise: Gragar also mentioned Spelljammer earlier when i asked about the Goldbox games. Yes i guess that'll be the fate for many great - licenced - games which means the Dune games or Battle for Middle-Earth or Blade Runner will probably never see a re-release.... (just to mention some i'd like to see here :) )

Edit: Did some more research on the GoldBox games. Looks like the Spelljammer only used the engine. And apparently the AOL Neverwinter Nights was also part of it. But i'm not surprised it isn't here....
Spelljammer should be interesting. Never played the video game version, but the pen and paper concept of D&D in magical space boats was certainly different.

Yeah, that sucks. I'd buy Dune and Blade Runner if they were available.
Just finished Little Inferno (courtesy of the lovely Battle Sis.)
So... apparently it was a video game? õ__ô I really failed to understand the story or message of the game. The final burn combo will have to be looked up online unless you have an outstanding memory, which really pissed me off. Otherwise, it was great to burn stuff for a few hours :-)

I wonder if someone who hasn't played the original Pen and paper D&D can enjoy the GoldBox games as much as someone who played the pen and paper.

Yes Spelljammer looks interesting indeed - maybe it'll be released here as well. Correct me if i'm wrong but thus far every GOG published game originally came from SSI - which means there will be more from them. They seem to have published some quite nice games.

Which Dune game? All of them or only the RTS ones (i only played Dune 2k and a bit of Emperor)?
*hugs Everyone* I'm pretty happy, got a free model 1 sega genesis today.

I'd say it's possible. The ones that'll be hardest for me since I didn't play them originally will be ones like Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and the entirety of the Krynn trilogy, I think. The interface is old enough that it's going to be a hurdle. Middle ground would be games like Eye of the Beholder, where you have some interface improvements, but no auto-mapping. On the other end of the scale would be things like Ravenloft, which have the improved interface as well as auto-mapping.

No need for correction, I think you're right. SSI did the Gold Box series of titles. Given all the other titles that've been brought here, I'd say Spelljammer is more likely than Buck Rogers. GOG's been working with Wizards of the Coast, Spelljammer is a D&D property, so that makes sense.

I've only played one Dune RTS title, but it was fun. Would probably grab whatever just to have them.

Good score. Things like that usually aren't easy to come by without dealing with people on Ebay.

Not feeling comfortable with leaving a game before its finished, and also wanting to give its dev's a fair shake, I went back to Slender - The Arrival to see if my initial feelings about it were harsh.

Why oh why did I bother? Its a two out of ten pile of nothing. It looks reasonably good, has atmosphere and even tension at times (collectively worth my two points), but the whole thing is ruined by the constant suspicion that it was made by an untalented teenager. Put simply, its a turgid mess designed, however unintentionally, to frustrate and to waste time and money.

There, I feel better now :-)

The only good consequence of suffering it again (aside from easing my conscience) is that its prompted the starting of a list of the GOG games I've played, with added marks and comments for future reference.

Good to know but i don't see an old interface as a big hurdle because that something one can get into and when playing old(er) games that is something to be expected :)

Good. I guess time will tell - i mean they don't need to hurry now that they're the publisher ;)

Yes. They're classics and we need more Westwood here :)

Well, you gave it a chance. Now you can throw it on the garbage pile and move on to something that isn't total crap.

You're right. So long as it's not in a foreign language, odds are it can be learned quickly enough. Worst case scenario, the manuals will be needed. That's not such a bad thing.

True. They've been spreading the titles out, which makes sense. Spelljammer will probably be around after the first of the year when people's wallets have gotten a chance to stop hemorrhaging.

Dune and Command & Conquer would work. Not sure which one's less likely, though.

Exactly and even the foreign language actually depends on the language. Trust me :P
And usually those manuals tend float around somewhere on the internet....

Yes. I don't mind that. Same with Bethesda or Ubisoft. I'm fine with spreading the release - as long as they're releasing somethin of course :)

I guess Dune might be more unlikely given the Dune licence....and since EA apparently lost interest in C&C i don't see a problem with releasing the old Westwood ones here (plus maybe Generals)

On a totally unrelated note. Anyone here play Pathologic?

Had a few games and also a six button arcade stick.
Nighty Night people what did I miss while I was busy being wrangling numbers?

Oh my! More D&D oldies?!

I say the Dragonlance Gold Box will eventually be among us again.

Good evening. But it already is - the Krynn trilogy consists of

- Champions of Krynn
- Death Knights of Krynn
- The Dark Queen of Krynn

which according to the Goldbox Wikipedia article are the Dragonlance Goldbox games....

Or did i misunderstand you?

GOG's been very good about including the manuals for all the games. No need to dig around online for them.

Likewise. It's the companies who don't add anything for years on end that get annoying.

Problem is, EA might not care about Command and Conquer (or at least, they can't make one without screwing it up), but they still want total control of it, despite it having already been pirated to hell and back by any and everyone who didn't want to pay for it. And so it sits on Origin rather than being here.

Have it sitting on my desktop but haven't gotten into it yet. Seems that the match-3 has sucked out the urge to play games for a bit.

Now when I get some shit paid off, I plan on buying a CD add on for the genesis.
