ddickinson: Good Morning, lovely Owl!

How are you today?

*big hug with no coffee*
Good morning, beautiful DD

No coffee for me ?... aaaaw :'-|
**Big hug with 10 liters of coffee for you**

AgentBirdnest: I just turned the sound off, but the music stays in my head :-p
Most of the time, I don't really like hard games. I just want to enjoy a game without all that nasty dying and losing stuff. If there is a difficulty option, I usually put it on normal or easy. However, at the moment, I seem to love having my arse kicked by Volgarr The Viking... So I guess I have phases where hard is fun :-)

ddickinson: That is old game music for you :-). They were very limited with the sounds they could produce in those days. Most of the older games and gaming machines had annoying sounds.
Their technical limitations were also the cause of how dastardly insidious their earworms were. Being capable of playing only a few notes on a limited range, sound guys struggled to make the simplest, most pleasing rhythms possible. Incidentally, John Williams works the same way, starts with a simple tune you can whistle, then builds an orchestral piece around it.

j0ekerr: Also a good morning to Agent, pimp and DD.
Well, pl*ck you too >:-| ... >;-p

Empress_Owl: Good morning, people of the Thread !
**Big hugs with coffee**
*hugs owl* I want some coffee. :P

AgentBirdnest: Ugh... I do not miss being unable to save my progress. I've never finished some really old games because they can take all day to complete and can't be saved :-\
I think I didn't mind difficult games when I was younger because I had (compared to now) so few games. Now that I have so many, I am spoiled. If a game is too hard, I can just switch to one of the hundreds of easier ones instantly :-p
We also had a lot more time as kids to play games, so often we didn't mind the challenge and the lack of a save feature. The sad thing is that many modern games don't even have proper saves. We talked about the Dawn of War games yesterday, and the first games had saving at almost any point, but the apparently the first game at least from the second lot of games would not let you save during a mission. Several games now use checkpoints still, despite saving coming such a long way. I guess it is laziness, as a checkpoint system is easier than a save anywhere system.

AgentBirdnest: Good morning, my lovely Empress \o/
**Big hug with orange juice** :-)
How's Tuesday treating you?
Good morning my Agent ! :)
**Big hug with coffee**
Pretty nice so far, thanks... and you ?...

j0ekerr: Good moaning, fellow threadites.

CARICATUREKILB: I am good, today seems to be one of the better days for my health sot that is nice. Plus tomorrow I leave for my little vacation. I am a little tired though as me and my partner stayed up quite late playing Treasure Island Dizzy on the old ZX Spectrum. It is a fun game, but so hard. You die so easily and you die a lot.

EGG-TRAORDINARY!
avatar
j0ekerr: Playing olden ZX games; implying to be doing so on a still working machine...

I salute you!

Also a good morning to Agent, pimp and DD.

I'll be leaving soon, just popping by to say hello.

By the way DD; panzy Eldar on my GOG? I feel a purge is incoming.
Heya joker, DD, Owl, anyone else I missed. :P
avatar
ddickinson: Good morning!

I know, who makes a game for those pansy Eldar. No one likes the elves. :-)

Have a good day!

(Oh, and it was me who played Dizzy, Caricaturekilb just didn't do the quote quite right.)

Edit: And hello Pimp! Sorry I missed your post.
In that case, my salute to you. Your badass creed just jumped up another notch in my book.

I am doing good today, definitely seems to be one of my better health days today, which is a nice change compared to the last few days. Sadly this is my last day on GOG for a while as I go away tomorrow, but I am looking forward to it and hopefully it will be a lot of fun.

Sorry, I meant that to be that I don't have any coffee as I don't like it. Of course you get coffee, a big giant pool full of coffee.

*gives Owl a big hug then pushes her into the pool of yummy coffee*

I know, which is also why so many games sounded the same. But hey, we have games made today that have worse sound, so it is not all bad. :-)

Don't be mad, you posted while I was writing that one.

Do you want a dead mousey? Come on who wants a nice, not-fresh, beak-watering, dead mousey?

Save anywhere should be mandatory. It seems like it has only become less common over the last few years. It can get really annoying if not done right, which is usually the case. I don't always use it though. Sometimes I like to play through Deus Ex without saving. So if I die, I have to start over entirely :-) (What was I just saying about preferring easy games? n__n)
