Stilton: Currently downloading! Its nice to buy games :-)

I love a bit of nostalgia, and the more clever the better. Even DX11 big and in your face can get to be samey.

Additional: does my ONLINE tab frequently switch to OFFLINE? Yours tends to blip on and off like you're having internet problems. In view of your recent fun and games I'm wondering if you have. Or maybe its another GOGBUG (surely not...).
Looking forward to my next stack of them. It'll probably be if GOG puts up a Halloween promo with stuff I don't already have. If they don't, I'll be grabbing a bunch of horror RPG books first instead.

The triple-A approach - make it as big and as cinematic as possible. Easy to see how that gets stale.

The online/offline indicator switches from on to off when someone goes idle for a few minutes. I'm switching between Puzzle Quest and talking here, refreshing the page so I'm not missing conversation. That's presumably when it switches back to showing me as online.

And yes, yours does the same thing when you don't talk for a bit.

OK, was wondering.

A Halloween promo would be good, but I think I have most of the creepies here, at lest the ones worth having.

I'm thinking of Slender: The Quickest Way To Shit Your Pants as my Halloween special, although I see it has garbage reviews. I tried it some while back, and with its atmosphere and my jumpy imagination it certainly put me in a creepy place.

I think I'll add the first Amnesia to that, as well.

Stilton: Just bunged Letter Quest (looks good) in the basket. As for Solar War, I've answered my own question by test driving the demo. Really nice. Simple but sophisticated, would be a handy way to describe it. And NO sound. That makes it appeal even more (minimalism is good).

CarrionCrow: Yes, I noticed that one from people on my Steam playing it. Checked it out, that'll be one I grab soon.

No sound can work since a lot of games have music repetitive enough that it gets replaced by something on Youtube anyway. Also, I'm a sucker for turn-based. Deep rooted nostalgia for it since Battletech.
Battletech?

I've got four horror-type titles on my list. Out of those, Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is the only one with a shot of being on a promo soon. Fran Bow, Stasis and Soma are too new for that.

Read on the forums that the developer essentially abandoned the GOG version of the game. Steam gets updates but GOG doesn't.

Gnostic: Battletech?
That's the one. Only difference is, my nostalgia is based around playing the tabletop version of that roughly 20 years ago.

And Bad Mojo Redux should be good for the season too, forgot that one.

Good one. Hadn't thought of that. D mentioned Penumbra, that would work. Ones that haven't been mentioned that might be called at least horror-related include the Dracula series, the Black Mirror series, System Shock 2, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, Blood 1 and 2, Painkiller, the Alone in the Dark series, Clive Barker's Undying, the Legacy of Kain series, the Bloodrayne series, 7th Guest, 11th Hour, the Dark Fall series, Pathologic, Still Life 1, 2 and Post Mortem.

There's quite a bit of decent horror stuff all told, most of which I have. Thursday night is gaming night, I think :-) Its 5AM and my mind isn't up to getting the most out of anything now. I might fart about with Plants v Zombies, but that's about all I'll be able to manage. Doubt if I'll sleep now. Hope DD's away in dreamland.

Yeah, there's a lot more than I thought at first. This will probably come as a shock to you, but I also have pretty much everything that's been listed.

Don't beat yourself up on that one. Trying to think well at 5 am post-all nighter is usually an effort.

She probably is. She said she was falling asleep at the computer. By that point, her mind should have been focused on getting some rest.

Needing sleep is a pain in the arse, or head at the moment, but to be honest I'm hard pushed to tell the difference. But starting a horror game at 11pm or so will guarantee three or four hours of gameplay with little or no head lag. If I start something now I'll be missing the point as well as cheating myself. P v Z is about my limit for now -laughs-

Nothing wrong with mostly mindless. Hell, that sums up both my Puzzle Quest runs. My brain just coasts through it. Only time it wakes up is for speed rounds where I only get 3 seconds to make each move.
Shit, I can't even face P v Z. Its one of the 'mist' levels where you can't see the zombies until they're half way up the lawn. Plus there's the pool, AND some mad-looking bastard on a pogo stick. I need food; I feel like my stomach's the size of a walnut...

There ya go. You might be semi-loopy and soon to be frustrated, but at least you won't be hungry.
Food going in, stomach returning to normal size. Fuck sleep, who needs it?

It is a very tedious pain in the ass requirement. At least with food you get some sensation to it. Needing to sleep is like being built with woefully inefficient batteries.
Either Letter Quest or Words For Evil might get my other half into PC games (finally!). She's a Scrabble fan and likes doing online crosswords (PC games!), so she might get a buzz out of a word game with some story attached. If she doesn't I'll put her down as a lost cause and look for an upgrade :-)

Sleep is one of those things that emphasizes the basic poor design of the human body. Its up there with biting your cheek when you eat and constipation.
