Stilton: I agree. If they are going to redirect any effort then I would really appreciate an improvement in the day to day handling of the site in general. Just to know its reasonably bullet proof would make the GOGoholics among us feel a whole lot more happy. There have been too many times when the place has felt like its falling apart under bugs and weird anomalies.
avatar
CarrionCrow: That would increase overall customer confidence greatly. Not only would that be good for all involved with GOG, but it'd be a very good thing considering that the competition has a reputation for problems in the quality department.
I'd just like to know that if a big sale hits that f*cking bear will be hibernating :-)

LeoLR: Hello everyone!
How was/is your day? I'm here sipping some cheap beer to distract me of the heat.
Good evening. =)

Can't complain too much here. Housework, chatting and video games.

By imagination alone I can understand why you'd be happy to get away from that job. If you're the manager, you probably get to deal with every obnoxious asshole in the place.

Stilton: ...
Hi Leo. I could do with some cheap beer. Any beer.

How's your day been? Apart from hot...
avatar
LeoLR: Pretty ordinary which is good i guess. :-)
I've been doing some reports because in the next week I'll leave my position as apartment manager of the building where I live. Something I'm looking forward for some time.
That's good news. I should think managing an apartment block is a pretty stressy job. I suppose you're on 'duty' all the time.

As opposed to them giving us the finger and laughing.

Or not giving a damn. The message it comes with is really out of place, something like Sorry, but we're too popular to help you right now. Popular my arse. They're too lazy/uncaring to get their website to the state that people can use it without being given crap excuses.

The building itself is quite easy to manage. However [ Crow nailed it :-) ] some people are masters on being petty and obnoxious. The sad part is when, for example, we do some meeting to decide over some improvements or repairs to do almost no one appears. But usually the ones missing on these meetings are the first ones to complain about everything.

The message even includes a winky face at the end, which has always made it unclear to me whether they are joking or not. Either way, they should do away with it.

Also, good evenoon everyone :-)

It sounds like a good job to get rid of.

Have you had your São Paulo trip? I remember you mentioning it a while back. I ask because I'm a formula one fan and you have one of the world's classic circuits there.

Figuring they meant it as silly originally. Problem is, it starts getting old after a few years of buying, watching the site grow, seeing the business increase, but the infrastructure isn't growing with it.

I still think a lot of their problems come down to their location. Once they get over the hurdle of setting up a U.S. office, things will undoubtedly improve. They'll have access to tech people, support people, web people, and they'll be able to fix problems a hell of a lot faster.

I see you dropped your Empress badge of terror.
If you make a mental estimate of how many active users there are on this forum and then the fact that GOG has sold about 700,000 units of the Witcher 3 a lot of things make more sense.
A large percentage of these sales were undoubtedly to Galaxy users. I've noticed several times now that people are referring to GOG as Galaxy. "I bought that game from Galaxy and it won't work", or, "I found it on the Galaxy Site".
I think it''ll be a frigid day in Hades before we see much improvement in the forums or even the website.
Galaxy is where it's at now, like it or not.
(These opinions are mine and mine alone, you can't have them) :-)

Anyone with a decent internet connection could do their web, programming and database work for them, no need at all to move.

That's probable. Its a shame they can't stay on home soil. I fear that being a part of such a big global gaming machine as the USA will take some of the cottage industry out of them and turn them into just another big wheel among dozens of others. They still have a personal touch, and it would be a shame to see it compromised because of a change in attitude. Growing is good to a point, but there is always the danger of becoming too big. There'll be more pressure to handle indie games because they are a growing force, and the 'new' release of old games is going to dry up and become a secondary concern at some point.

Indeed. Upon the Empress' return, I had to give up my role as supervisor and my badge, or risk a swift kick square in the nuts from her :-p

Yes. Already went to São Paulo on the weekend before the last one. I attended one day of Brazil Game Show.
