In the Winnie the Pooh stories, everyone, including Owl, thinks Owl is very clever. One of the reasons they think he's clever is because he can write his own name. The trouble is, he spells his name 'Wol'.

So now you know :-)

Ernest Shepard is one of my heroes. When I was at art college I went to an exhibition of his Pooh drawings. They're wonderful.
