Stilton: Sounds like Halloween has started :-) I'll be loading up Frankenstein later - looking forward to that.

I might add the King Arthur Collection to my Metros when I nab them, because I clearly don't have enough to download already ;-)
Definitely. Might as well start early, since people try to shove it aside far too quickly.

Will you be watching with, or without, the priestess and the virgin? Enhancements to the viewing experience are fine, but the shieldmaiden cracking you in the head after seeing them might kill the mood a bit. ;)

Of course not. If you're anything near finishing, you don't have enough to grab. The ultimate goal is to be either backing up, updating or downloading new things all the time with no breaks.

Ah! Now I understand you people and this continuous talk of downloading and such!

I can never work out which prefer out of Halloween and Christmas. Reveling in all that is supernatural, bloody and dismembered gives Halloween a strong lead, but by the time December 20th rolls around I'm going all dewy eyed and humming inane songs about snow and chestnuts...

I've got the virgin and priestess all ready in the spare room. I'll slip the shieldmaiden some 'sleep assistance' half an hour before the off and then I'll light the candles. Can't do a good horror film without some cabaret ;-)

I'm like you and get withdrawal symptoms if there isn't something game-related either on my monitor or downloading. For a relatively recent convert to PC games I seem to have grabbed the bug with a passion.

Got some more family things to do so I'll be busy for a couple of hours - keep my place warm...

-laughs- It's a frequent topic of discussion when you have to spend days backing everything up. Fortunately, Stilton has a fairly decent net connection. Otherwise he'd be screaming by now.

If you enjoy the other one, more power to you. Easier choice for me, no contest every single time.

-laughs- Might want to give that idea a trial run first. If the assistance doesn't do its job properly, your lovely evening could turn into concussions and dead people in the living room.

Everyone needs a hobby. As hobbies go, this one is pretty low maintenance and surprisingly affordable with all the sales.

It's the weekend. Pretty much everyone has stuff to do at some point, not much chance of your seat getting stolen.

Hi, folks of the thread! I'll admit, I haven't caught up on the thread today at ALL. *BUT*!!! My lady just said to me, "you know, we should totally upgrade both of our computers this year for Christmas. We're not the religious sorts, really, but this struck me as a BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.

so, i'm here basically to ask, what recommendations do you guys have for parts??? if you were building your dream machine, but were on a reasonable budget (i'll provide context of sorts below)...

We want to replace both of our systems, hopefully with pc's running Win 7, but I suppose we'd settle for 10 if 7 is no longer attainable on a new custom-built.

I don't trust myself to build a computer completely from parts, so I'll likely go through a vendor that does such a thing at a somewhat-unfair price. But here's some specs for my current system. not too out of date, but having enough hardware issues to not mind going ahead and updating along with her (her system is much more outdated than this, so even a very slight upgrade from this setup would be a good step)
Intel I5 3570k @3.4ghz / 3.8ghz
Win 7 SP1 64 big
16gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 660Ti
120gb ssd system drive
2tb secondary hdd

an upgrade from this isn't even entirely necessary, as this current setup meets my needs. I'll admit though, i'd love to be able to up the settings on some newer games, and to be more updated for whatever will happen in the next few years, but if my current setup is more advisable than an upgrade, i'd be just as happy to hear that. I'm just a buffoon when it comes to this sort of thing, and research seems to make my buffoonery worse, not better. Any thoughts, folks?

I'll be back around after a shower and a bit of DA:I :)

*hugs and waves all around*

BillyMaysFan59: My guess is that everyone at GOG is too busy working on Galaxy. In that case they need more staff.
avatar
ddickinson: I have seen a few people say that Galaxy is not really progressing much either, but I don't know about that as I don't use Galaxy. I know a few people think it should be further along since its public beta release several months ago.

l0rdtr3k: Literally "young boy". ANime or manga that's made for 10 to 15 year old boys. Titles include Naruto,One Piece,DBZ,Saint Seiya and others.

ddickinson: What makes you think I would have/had much interest in young boy anime? It's not really aimed at me, more at the male half of the population.
Hi, I'm stuck at the beginning. Trouble getting in the door initializing galaxy.
I have followed the general troubleshooting steps: install, restart, uninstall, restart again, install as admin, etc...When I attempt to log in to galaxy using my email (and with the same pw as gog.com) I get: error "404 can't find..."
2 months ago, I bought the Witcher Enhanced CD, had probs with the patches, so I decided to use gog galaxy. Kaspersky has URL exclusion for https://login.gog.com] https://login.gog.com*.
What am I missing? Thank you,
Maeve

Hi Maeve. Sorry, I can't help you there :(

Things are a bit quiet here tonight, but if you hang around long enough I'm sure someone helpful will happen by :)

Sorry, can't help with this issue. But please post your problem here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2
Currently staff is really present in this thread, trying to help. Could be that you have to wait until after the weekend though.

I know the feeling.... :-) You'll get there, eventually.

I'm out of here, folks. Its horror night for me and I've got a couple of cold and creepy films to watch ;-)

Have a good day or evening wherever you are, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Sleep well....and safely...WHOOOEEERRRRHHHHAAAAAA!!!

I totally agree with this - well not that you're a buffoon - but that sometimes trying to research this type of thing can be a bit less helpful than asking and getting pros / cons from a bunch of people using the hardware. When I got back into PC gaming I sort of "lucked" into guessing a GPU I've been VERY happy with. But if I were to do it again it's nice to be able to ask folks here using the gear!

Wish I had some more helpful info!
