I read the DRM-talk when I woke up, then saw something on facebook this morning that I thought was interesting (I know, facebook is yucky, but I am an Agent, and therefore must stalk my friends ;-)) Gun debates have been the big thing here lately, and I noticed people arguing on facebook today that gun control only punishes honest gun owners, and does nothing to stop crime. It made me think, "Hey! That's the same argument I use for DRM!", only you can't brutally murder someone with DRM, of course...

Anyway... Going well here. No games yet, I'm thinking of making some dinosaur-shaped cookies, and my cold is gone :-)

I am my family's "tech support" as well, though that is certainly no testament to my skill with computers... what really baffles me is lately my family has been coming to me with all sorts of questions and issues with Apple products, which they all know I can't stand and won't use myself... even when I had an iPod, the first thing that had to go was the firmware. My wife has an iPad, but fortunately she knows better than to have me try to fix it if something acts up. The rest of the family just insists, "but you know this kind of stuff!" ;)

I am doing pretty well, all things considered. Having some nasty issues with nausea this morning, and this bronchitis still hasn't taken a hint and hit the road, but the pup is in great spirits, as am I, and he is seeming quite content to just bask in the sun... So I may not feel ideal physically, but I can't really complain about getting to spend the morning sitting out back with a coffee, watching the little guy lazily explore and roll around in the grass. :)

Good thing your cold has gone. I hope it left a note to say thank you for looking after it, but that it won't be back again :-) Very fickle, these colds. One minute they're all over you and the next they're off with someone else.

That is definitely the worst part. Tried to install XP on an old rig recently, only to find that you can no longer download the updates. Had to hunt down some extra-old drivers for my video card as well. Quite a task.

Thankfully all of my family is not really into Apple (i can't stand it either) so i don't have to deal with that :)

Glad to hear that although i hope you will recover from the bronchitis soon. Sorry to hear about the nausea issues.

Had that with Windows 7 recently. Updating it took hours O.O.....but i an imagine that XP is way worse in that matter nowadays...

The service packs can be found, I believe. Did you manage to locate any non-Microsoft XP files stashes? A base XP OS is very clunky on its own, even next to useless.

Got the service pack installed, but didn't find any other updates. Eventually just said "screw it" and gave up. Might try again another day, when I have the courage :-p

What's odd is that I haven't met an honest gun owner that minds gun control regulations in the slightest. All the gun owners I know (though, admittedly, it's a small number) are all for gun control. It's a debate I stay out of though, mostly, as I don't ever plan on having a gun myself, and prefer not to provoke those that do. ;)

Stilton, I wish I had that level of conviction when it came to DRM. I certainly feel the same, yet at the same time, it didn't take much for me to fold in terms of Steam, and with Origin it just took really wanting to play the Mass Effect games... Not the best at standing my ground, at least not in this arena. ;)

Thanks! Pretty sure the bronchitis is on its way out... I've had chronic / recurring bronchitis since I was quite young, but it actually hasn't flared up like this in years. The good part is, I very rarely have to do anything these days that leaves me out of breath. Hooray for the lazy life. ;)
The nausea issues aren't fun, but I've certainly gotten used to it, and have found ways of managing or ignoring it best I can... it can be a real challenge on days where there is a lot going on, or when Sarge is being a handful while I'm busy getting sick, but he's being an absolute gentleman today so far. I think he's started to learn when I don't feel well, and has started responding by being much calmer and sweeter in those times. Well, mostly.
Sometimes pure puppy excitement wins out, but not half as often as I'd expect. :)

Temptation is a biggie, but I learned a long time ago that there's plenty of pleasure to be found in other things. I have a very sweet tooth, but in my teens I got into exercise in a pretty big way and a new 'pleasure spot' was opened. The sweet stuff was still there, but in tiny quantities compared with before. Its like that now - if I see a game I like but which is polluted by DRM (terminology is another important factor - 'POLLUTED' resonates) I rise above the desire to have it and look for something else. And we all know there are thousands of games in this digitally obsessed ocean we're swimming in to have plenty of fun with. There, mystic method encapsulated :-)

And I can't stand Apple either. My daughter and other half have Apple laptops and I show zero interest in them completely. They're far too showy and self-obsessed for my tastes, and so are their Apple laptops ;-)

**I hope you all have a lovely day! I think I'll get back into a little Dragon Age: Inquisition. I'm actually glad I started over, even if it meant throwing away a bunch of gameplay hours. Actually having a clue what's going on with the story makes quite a difference. I'm still in the first few hours, and it'll be another 60 or so before I "break even," but it's going to feel much more worth playing, and much more immersive.

Still it doesn't sound very good. Animals can sometimes feel it because all cats we have /had reacted similar when someone was ill. One of our cats guarded me for days when i was very ill as a small kid
