ElTerprise: You want to that song don't you? :P
I'm sorry but that functionality was a pre-order exclusive for the ARK - maybe it'll be made available as a DLC in the future :P
LOL!!

Good night, Mr T. Sleep well. *big hug*

Stilton: Halloween's a blast. I'm getting all expectant even now. A couple of films in the planning, some 'Unofficial Beer of Halloween' ready to go, and appropriate foodstuffs. A bit of pumpkin carving and then settle in for some pleasant scares.
I love it as well - all the stuff you mention - we even do hayrides and such here.

I'm going with Outlast. I've never played it before and I'm really looking forward to it. The last game I played like this (and also my first in the "genre") was Amnesia: The Dark Descent and it was excellent. Can't wait to try something with a more modern setting.

Great choice! I've got it, as yet unplayed, and there's the Whistleblower too. I might see if I can play through them both without screaming like a pansy (Vikings don't do that, of course).

Lights out, headphones on and hold onto that bladder.

The bad/good thing about headphones is I can't see when someone enters the room as the door is behind me. My daughter tapped me on the shoulder a while back when I was playing something scary and I literally almost screamed. Hilarious :-)
I'm much more of a wuss, so I'll be celebrating Halloween by playing Costume Quest n__n

Stilton: I've got that Wednesday feeling - kind of a withdrawal because I haven't bought anything in a while and I want a bargain. I really could do with a sale sometime soon, just to scratch that consumer itch.
I know that feeling...

Fortunately, my account should be back to normal soon. Now that impatience isn't gnawing at my brain, it's pretty funny.
GOG has anti-fraud protection, so what happens? I buy so much shit it sets the protection off. GOG switches to a different anti-fraud setup, so what happens? I once again buy enough shit to set the protection off, and it wasn't even during a big sale like the first time.

LOL that's too great! I don't have a set of headphones, but I'm certainly going lights out / door closed darkness for this one. I too had it uplayed for a while, because I knew I was going to save it for this time of year (I'll probably start in the next week or so).

Is there a multiplayer option? We can run around in our costumes and go trick or treating!

I played the demo on console back when it was released and thought it seemed like a really promising game. For some reason I remember thinking "Awwww I'll NEVER be able to play the opening *that well again* (despite the game being fairly linear at that point I think?)" and that was enough to dissuade me from playing it :( Have you ever played it before?

You HAVE to get headphones, really. A dark room, the game glowing on you and the sound up close is amazingly immersive. You'll be missing out on some serious fun, honestly. When I started using them the games were so much better, horror games in particular.

Afraid not :-p
Versus mode would be interesting. Team one goes door to door trick or treating. Team two sits at home watching a movie waiting for team 1 to show up :-p

I suppose its good they have safeguards in place, but it must be a pain having everything frozen like that. I don't know what the policy is on backup accounts, but it might be an idea to have one to avoid missing something going for a good price.

As long as you've got more than one payment method set up, you'll be okay. I'm just glad Firek knows I'm a hoarder, not a scumfuck. As such, he's very cool about it and does his best to help.

If anything, this might be helpful to let people in the thread know that the new anti-fraud is much more stringent than the old one by the looks of things. Better to have backup payment ready before the sales hit rather than during.

What's a hayride about? I'd love to do the full US Halloween. I was in Canada twenty-odd years ago and Halloween there was great. A load of houses up the street had pumpkins out on their porches and there were groups of little kids going around in costumes. It was wonderful. The cool air, the quality of the light, the leaves. We had a fancy dress party and a friend got so drunk he went to sleep on the floor and woke in the morning with his lip stuck to the carpet. Apparently he'd thrown up something unimaginable and it had stuck him fast. Happy days :-)

So, what quantity constitutes 'too much'?

I don't usually go ape at sale time, but it would be good to know that twenty-ish games over the ten days or so wouldn't put me into a cell.

Yeah, I played through it a couple years ago. It is fairly linear, and gets really repetitive (but luckily it isn't too long.) Still, it has a certain "charm". Made me feel really nostalgic about trick or treating, and being a kid in general, which kept me hooked :-)
It isn't anything impressive. It was mostly little things that made me smile throughout the game. The lovely music, the cute graphics, the silly characters... Not really much to speak of in the gameplay department, but It has heart, in my opinion :-)

Have you read Ray Bradbury's 'The Halloween Tree'? That'll send you right back. Its a great little story and perfect for now.
