What a profiteering, sadistic piece of shit! Some things there I didn't know, and it made unpleasant reading.

Here's a revised version of a painting titled 'The Inspiration of Christopher Columbus.' I think its an improvement, personally.

toxicTom: Understandable. My wife will also never read them. And I'm torn on continuing. I'm still curious what may happen next, but overall the books are excessively sadistic towards the characters. And there's almost no humour or "glimmers of hope" to lighten things up sometimes.

The Witcher books also sometimes describe horrible scenes (especially the later ones). But there is always a counter-balance, where the good guys score, or a certain witty, sometimes dark, humour shines through.

Only joking, I have not read or played them yet. I do have the first book (some German guy bullied me into buying it ;-)), but with all that has been going on I have not read it yet.

l0rdtr3k: At least Miura gives us context instead of just putting it there because "crap place to live" and I gave you some examples on other things about the world that makes it crappy.
But for some reason I freaking love Guts. Yes he's an extreme case of social darwinism but reading his backstory you understand why he's like this and he isn't one note since he evolves after the Count arc and duringthe Lost Children arc.

ddickinson: You don't need to justify yourself, or the show, I was not attacking either. I was just saying my person point of view on those things, and that is heavily influenced by working where I did and seeing and hearing some absolutely horrific things.
BTW D,look at the art of the most recent chapters and tell me if it shouldn't be in a museum. It's so detailed and beautiful.

That's why my heroes are Canadian. Like James Cameron, and... others :-)

I just went to a meeting on my master's dissertation, and the main thing I've learned today is that I'm not going to have any free time in November. At all. Goodbye fun, it's been nice knowing you.

*enormous thank you hug* I guess the main thing is trying not to think about it too much. :P

Yep, I'm doing fine. A bit tired, but as this is my last week of classes before the exam period I should be able to catch up on some rest next week. I'm also going on a study trip to another city in the Netherlands Wednesday, and I may be able to squeeze in some time to go to a big American bookstore. So that should be fun. :)

Preparation for my dissertation, two literature courses, for each of which I will have to read at least a book a week, then I'm supposed to make my own edition of a text for another class, and finally it's also novel writing month ... which means that I have squeeze writing 50000 words in there somewhere as well. Eeeeeep.

Anyway, how are you doing, Owl? :)
