EndreWhiteMane: You've just come up with my new official slogan:
"I'm contemplating future accomplishments."
Now to get a T-shirt printed..... :-)
Ha, glad to help! It is indeed a slogan to live by, and probably my all-around favorite activity. ;)

Stilton: I'm going to push to get mine sorted asap (even saying 'push' hurts). My doc is pretty good and if I throw myself at her mercy she'll get it booked in. It feels fairly small (its in more or less the same place I had one when I was really young - two or three years old), and feels a little like retracing old steps as I remember how it felt back then.
avatar
akhliber: I hope you're able to get in soon, and that recovery comes quickly and without too much pain. Having had one before is both good and bad, I suppose, depending on perspective. For me, I think I'll consider it a benefit when time to address the current one with surgery, as the memory of the experience strikes me with a feeling of, "oh, if I could do that at nine, it will be cake." But I imagine it could go in either direction, and that the memory of a previous surgical experience could just cause unpleasant memories of feeling like crap.
And yeah, if I were you, I wouldn't even say "push" more often than necessary in the mean time. Or cough. Or laugh. Or sit up from a lying position. Or move much. ;)
Steady on, I can see me being reduced to a series of (gentle) grunts in order to communicate...

CarrionCrow: Yeah...definitely not fun. At all.

I only played a tiny bit of Quake years ago before buying it again. It's a fun game, so the second should be good as well. Have heard of Wolfenstein for years, but never played it. And yes, they're not exactly brimming with anything besides shooting stuff. (Unless you count beating your use button to pieces looking for secret areas. Intensely annoying mechanic right there.)

Well, that's just fucking fantastic. -shakes head- Will keep on hoping that you get to gradually feeling better.
It is not that I mind generic shooters, I just prefer FPS games to have a nice story to them as well. Not too much mind, I like my games to be games and not interactive movies. :-)

Thank you. I can't really blame the specialist, they have tried a lot of things (granted a few of the doctors were incompetent and insulting, but not all). I could blame the jerk who attacked me as he caused a lot of the problems, but where will that get me. I am hoping now that I am able to eat a little better than I can build up some strength and I will end up being okay. The doctor did think it was a good sign that things have not regressed too much a third time. Yes some things are showing signs, but nothing too bad just yet. I am sure I will be fine, I am not about to let this get the better of me, especially as if it does it would leave my partner all alone, and that would break my heart, so I have no intention of letting that happen.

Edit: But I will shut up about all that, I don't want to be a bother and I also don't want to make the place all depressing, so I will just stuck to less serious silly stuff.

superstande: Ouch...
Yeah good luck!
Quitting something is not easy... I've been 7 weeks without beer and I think I might lose a tooth or two because of the huge pile of candy I've been eating as a substitute :) And there have been huge cravings and some crazy party dreams :)
-laughs- It's not that bad. Get upset, punch something hard, fingers swell up for a while, manual dexterity decreases quite a bit, swelling goes down, and it's back to normal.

Yes, it's certainly difficult. Good job on going with your goal for so long. =)
Maybe try some sugar-free candy? Don't want to lose teeth while saving the liver.

If all else fails, you can always go with a combination of hand signals and helmet throwing. That should cover whatever you might wish to convey.

Good afternoon.

ElTerprise: In that case gifting would be on the same level as the Steam one plus some bonus topping because if i'm not mistaken the Wolfpack (W3D, Spear of Destiny and RTCW) is giftable

You mean the MechWarrior tier? That's the one i chose :)
That would really be bad, especially with people screaming their heads off endlessly about it.

Yes, that's the one. It's looking like the best value for someone who can't afford something massive like the tier that includes the flight jacket.

Grargar: I doubt that GOG is going to stop you from buying a game as a gift. At least, they don't do so anymore. If your question was, instead, whether a German can redeem one of those games, then the answer should be yes, as a Commandos 2+3 giftcode I bought, was successfully redeemed by a German GOG user.
avatar
ddickinson: Thank you very much for the answer. It is nice to know we can still gift the games to the German users so they won't miss out on the region locked games.
Thanks for clearing this up Grargar and DD!

Also I strongly hope your situation improves one of these days, DD.
Hopefully it's soon.
My wife went through a period in life when it was not sure if a sickness was going to be subdued or not: and if not, she might have had only about a year to live.
It was a heavily nerve-wrecking thing, especially at work. But her happiness has returned.

Anyhow. Releases. *puts on a nonchalant innocent voice* Germans, any game particularly looking interesting... ?
Hi again fellows and fellowettes!

Great block of releases today but nothing I'd want to buy at the prices listed to be perfectly honest. Maybe in the next big sale I'll take a chance on the Quake and Wolfenstein series. Until then it looks like Way of the Samurai 4 is the closest to receiving my cash, depending on what the weekend promo is of course.

I don't blame you a bit for having that preference. Doom 1 and 2 started getting boring since it was the lather/rinse/repeat of shoot, run, heal, grab ammo over and over and over again.

That's a very good attitude to have. =) Things will work out in the end.

Thank you. I recall you mentioning your wife and her condition before, which was very sad to hear. But I was pleased to hear things were looking up for her, and hopefully she is over the worst now. I try not to let it get to me, and for the most part I do a good job, but seeing the effect it has on the people I care about is a little much for me sometimes. But I will shut up for real now, I talk about my stuff way too much. :-)

Well, as long as someone replies to you, it qualifies as a conversation, which qualifies it to be in the thread ;-p

I did not mind Doom 1 and 2, especially as at the time I had not played many other FPS games, and even then Doom was not exactly new. Over time I just preferred a nice story with the game, not just FPS but with most games. Puzzle games and causal games are good too, but I will take a nice narrative any day. Just as long as it is game first and story second, not just story with little game as possible tacked on so it can be called a game.

Thank you. I am confident I will be fine, I am not about to think otherwise. I think I am doing good, but as I nearly died twice over the last few months already it is taking its toll on my health, which makes it much harder to heal, given that I now have to recover from those two incidents as well. But we English ladies are made of tough stuff, especially the farm girls. Mr Death has tried about 4 times in my life now I think, and each time he failed. If he comes again too soon I think I will just rip his bollocks off and tell him to come back some time in the long distant future. :-)
