Stilton: That's made me feel better already. A bit of lateral thinking does wonders ;-) Are you still digesting games like there's no tomorrow?
You make it sound more interesting than what I'd call it. I just refer to it as a lot of people being intensely stupid while being too oblivious to notice. Slowly chewing through, but there are way, way, way more games now. A bit of luck on the next big sale and I'll be past a thousand.

Stilton: I'll stay - its the only sane place for me at the moment.
Do you remember a year ago I was moving house? Well, it still hasn't happened - we're being stuffed at every turn at the moment. There are few properties around that we're interested in and when we do find one it has problems (asbestos/owners changing their minds about vacating, etc). And the little Viking's back problem has got worse so we're looking at surgery as the best option to deal with it. Its a bit of a rut, but we'll dig our way out.

Yes, I remember !...
:-( .... that must be getting old.
(Oh, boy... Poor little Viking... Let's hope the surgery will fix everything... When will it happen ?)
Well, we'll do our best to get your mind off things, then. ):-| Hopefully these two stressful situations will both be solved soon, and you'll be able to enjoy life much better !!

This is our surgeon treating a girl with an almost identical curve as Mini V's (she's even the same age).

Stilton: Thank you, warm fluffy yellow bird. We're pretty positive here - we just have to keep waiting on both counts. Things like this never happen quickly enough (the surgery particularly). It should be in the next year or so. Yes, I remember !...

Stilton: Woo, a thousand. That's a huge number. I'm slowly working my way through my collection and it feels like its taking forever. A thousand boggles the mind.
Yeah, it'll either take ten years, or I'll just lose what's left of my mind, at which point it won't matter anymore. Always good to have a plan B. ;)

Stilton: Yes, its not very appropriate - sends out completely the wrong message. The surgery is pretty amazing. The surgeon's one of those people who tells it like it is and you feel you can trust. Just what you need under the circumstances.
Well, it does send a very clear message on one level - I read that and think the people who came up with it are total assholes. That's the bitch of it, though. Odds are, the people who joke about it aren't ever going to be able to head off into full-scale la-la land, no matter how bad shit gets.
The ones who say it could never happen to them, on the other hand? Those are the ones who end up foaming at the mouth and talking at length to the furniture.

Thanks for the link ; unfortunately I'm not able to read it, both on my office's computer ("the adobe flash plugin has crashed" etc) and my mobile phone ("sorry, this player is not enabledd for HTML5 delivery")... :-( I'm not sure what it means. I'll give it a try at home >:-|

CarrionCrow: Funny how often that happens. Sleep when things are active, stay awake when things are quiet.
Certainly not a doctor, but iron infusions don't sound like a fun time. Hope you're feeling all right after having to deal with it.
Thanks! I'm super tired and weaker than I've been since I was about seven, but then my iron has been on the "abnormally low" side and steadily dropping for months (I believe the acceptable range is from 24mcg to over 300mcg... my labs had me at about 140 or so in February of this year, then down to about 22 in July, and had dropped to 14 on my last lab... given that I had to reschedule the infusion twice delaying it over two weeks, I'm guessing it may have crept lower in the mean time. Apparently weakness and exhaustion are the primary side effects, so not a big surprise I'm feeling like I am suddenly three times my own weight and slipping out of consciousness every now and then. Certainly not a doctor, but iron infusions don't sound like a fun time. Hope you're feeling all right after having to deal with it.
But as far as the infusion, it was truly an effortless and easy-going process. I just sat in a little room in a pretty posh recliner with an I.V. drip, reading a book (and perhaps napping a couple times) until it was done.
The only real "not fun" part about it has been that having the infusion causes a lot of joint pain, so all my old tears and injuries are feeling like they've "reawakened," so to speak.
All things considered, though, coming home tired and sore after reclining in a nice chair for the day seems like a silly thing to try and complain about. :) It could take multiple infusions over up to about 8 weeks to get me back in order, but I won't know details about any of that until I hear back from them.
I certainly seem to have a gift for sleeping at inappropriate times, or rather, for waking up at inappropriate times. I sleep when I sleep, so whenever it does come, I find it absolutely appropriate. :)
